And another successful removal!

These ladies were super easy to find (due to the nature of the wall and space) and a breeze to take out, aside for being a bit more developed than I expected. I did catch the queen though so that was a great help in wrangling the rest of them that were flying around.

They had a bit of nosema going, as evident by the compus yellow splats everywhere, but seemed to be in otherwise alright condition. They were a bit mean, but calmed down right away with a bit of smoke. I'm thinking they were on their way out already when I found them. There was lots of stored up pollen and sooooo many healthy babies, but very little nectar/honey.

Why can’t you just put fillings on animal teeth rather than go straight to extraction? Is it just expensive?

Animals don't typically get caries ("cavities") like humans do. Caries are a result of bacteria fermenting sugars on the surface of the teeth which results in acidity and degradation of the enamel. These are common in humans because of the amount of sugar we tend to consume. Meanwhile, cats and dogs tend to need teeth extracted because the high amount of bacteria and calculus (solidified plaque) in their mouths cause irritation of the gums and the bone around the tooth roots, resulting in bone loss and eventually loose teeth. In cats specifically, an immune reaction to plaque and calculus can cause the body to reabsorb the roots or the crown of the teeth. These bone and tooth loss incidents happen just as a result of "natural wear and tear" especially without teeth brushing, rather than sugars, as pet foods typically have little to no sugar content. Other reasons to extract teeth include chipped/fractured teeth that expose the pulp, in which case a crown or root canal may be performed instead of extraction, but will be wildly more expensive than the extraction simply because those are specialist-level procedures. Finally, teeth are sometimes removed as a result of poor conformation in baby animals (usually dogs) which will harm the hard palate or other teeth over time.
