“It’s embarrassing, really, but my cousin Muriel entrusted me with their cat while they’re out of town and I… well I’m afraid I’m a disaster with animals. The poor thing has been hiding for the last five hours and I’m feeling awfully guilty about it. The other day, I saw you in the lobby and I noticed you had your cat with you, so I thought: well, maybe this young fellow knows how to handle this!”
Prompt 3/4 - In Vino Veritas / Set in Another Time
There was too much they survived together in the last two decades. The horrors they had heard — and had faced — were too much and too many to be talked about, and yet, here they were.
He had watched his friend change; her youthfulness and bright eyed awe harden and disappear forever — except for when she was among plants. Time had not made the yearning any less easy.
Prompt 5/6 - Late night talks / Early Morning Walks
“What if I'm a bad parent?”
His first instincts were to laugh at the concept. In no universe it was possible that the most caring, loving and clever person he knew would be a bad parent. Of course, both of them would struggle and not be perfect; they were only human after all, but there was a burning certainty inside him that they'd be alright.
