👁 Megachilidae (commonly known as leafcutter, mason, or resin bees) are a cosmopolitan family of solitary bees found worldwide, with over 4,000 species¹. Commonly identifiable traits include the restriction of the scopa to the abdomen and an elongated labrum². The name Megachilidae derives from the Greek words mégas (big) and kheîlos (lip), meaning "big-lipped," describing the prominent mouthparts that these insects employ to gather materials for building their nests³.
