tessa was two years old when she dubbed nathaniel “uncle nate.” not quite understanding who he was in relation to her, all her little mind could come up with was uncle. he was in the same town as her uncle and aunt… he looked their age… surely he was another uncle. while her parents tried to correct her, her cheerful chant of “uncle nate! uncle nate! i want uncle nate!” was far too sweet for them to really put a stop to it.

the day she realized her “uncle nate” wasn’t really her uncle, she decided to keep the moniker. in her eyes, despite the years of blood between them, he’s as close to her as an uncle would be. he’s closer family than her great-great-great-add some greats-grandfather should be.
