...Yeah I'm gonna be real here I don't know much about either of these cities. Atlantis (Stargate ed.) seems really cool and sci-fi-y! Crystal Palace is a giant and possibly sentient (I mean, obviously sentient, why else would it be in this competition) city-sized and shaped computer! It's the battle of the cool sci-fi cities I don't understand! Do YOU understand well enough to vote? (If so please tell me, I need to improve my pitches.)

PRELIMINARIES (round .5), MATCHUP 5

aka the matchup i didn't realize until now i had to do and am now doing really fast without a proper image or anything because it's passover and i have to go for passover in like 2 minutes IM SO SORRY

ANYWAY. uhhh the other round of preliminaries IS! this one was hard to decide on because there were no obvious choices, so i'm sorry to whoever gets cut out, but....BATTLE OF THE PODCAST CITIES!

DESERT BLUFFS! VERSUS! CRYSTAL PALACE!

from the person who submitted it: crystal palace is the sentient(?) predictive computer of the rapid evening, a city sized analog computer where every act, every noise and movent, is part of the computation and the data. it is populated by people (who perform some of its actions, like moving levers, of maintenance), and also robotic "janitorial" staff who take the fire hose of predictions about everything and turn it into something usable and relevant. it is responsible for the 2 millennia role-based time loop in the civilization of which it is a part, where people, of their own free will and without realizing, fall into roles that repeat the lives of people 2000 years their predecessors.

from me: desert bluffs is a friendly desert community that then gets overrun by an evil corporation named strexcorp. it is the polar opposite and mortal enemy of night vale: while night vale is all about purple, darkness, and the unknown and untangible, desert bluffs is all about yellow, light, and BLOOD TEETH FLESH BLOOD BONES TEETH. night vale being sentient is an idea quite often tossed around in the fandom (it's in the competition too), and since desert bluffs mirrors it in every other way, why not let them both be sentient?
