ROBOT ROMANCE BEFORE CANON IMODNA KISS?????????
I know it's not in 5e, but FCG and the Aeorian language?
On the worst days, no one could understand Ashton.
They laid in bed and grumbled out words (expletives, likely) in a language none of the people at the Krook house understood, shaking the floor with the sounds of the words and the unstable yet stoic fervor with which they said them.
They all tried to help in their own way, not commenting when Ashton gruffly and impatiently repeated themself in Common and backing off when requests to explain what they were saying were met with sharp words amounting to “I don’t know either.”
That didn’t make sense to most of the residents, even if they didn’t say anything.
But to Letters, it made perfect sense.
They remembered thinking in a different language than Dancer spoke the first few days after they’d been first awakened. They remembered realizing that they knew the exact name for the smallest parts of a tool Dancer held in her hand, and realizing that in all likelihood Dancer did not know those words at all. They especially remembered the moment he realized they didn’t know why they knew these words, or thought in a tongue no one spoke.
He wondered if it was a feature of his programming, something someone had added along the way to help them in their tasks, but that was long ago.
They didn’t think about that language now. Not until Ashton seemed confused by their own words that came from a place of pain.
There wasn’t much that language and its detailed description and well articulated tone could do for Ashton, whose words sounded deeper than any voice could produce.
But there was something Letters could do.
He could sit with what he didn’t understand, but did make sense to them.
Watch over and help them through the hardest days like any faithful caregiver would.
Send me a character and a language from D&D 5e (whether or not they know it) and I’ll write a little fic about it.
