Ok, so I haven’t posted in a couple of days and this is why.
I’m doing more work on FIVR, the cyberpunk expansion to the setting, trying to get the core mechanics in place, and this, along with a couple of races that I’ll stat out soon, will form the core of character creation. This uses 5e rules but is more-or-less classless, or rather a “build your own class” system. You will get choices for core mechanics and side mechanics, you’ll be able to specialize or branch out, you can basically build exactly what you want. The amount of freedom to build your own personalized character using a system like this vastly expands upon the system we’re given in D&D, and I think thats good because in a cyberpunk setting like I’m working on, the race options are going to be quite limited. Personalization will come from the choices you make when building your character rather than their race, so a pretty stark difference to the 20 or so races I’ve made for vallonde.
The process for character creation will go like so:
1.) Generate ability score normally
4.) Gain common proficiencies
2.) Choose a race, apply racial ability score modifiers, and gain features granted by your race.
3.) Determine hit points using the method presented in the write-up.
5.) Choose background
5.) Gain one primary feature from tier 1 and one secondary specialization.
6.) Donzo
This is very, very, very much still rough draft and in the works and has yet to be balanced in any way, and even with some of the missing core mechanics this is only enough matieral for 4 levels since I haven’t even done features beyond tier 1. I haven’t written written race stuff, I haven’t written background, I haven’t statted out pretty much any items or enemies. All of that stuff is easy though, so once I’m done with the crunchiest of the core mechanics I can start chewing up the little bite-sized bits I’m missing right now.
As always, questions and comments are welcome, especially in this case since I don’t want this to be any more confusing than it has to be. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
