How did I get here?
In my Sono Essay, I describe how my taste in music have evolved and matured over time as I grew older. Perhaps more specifically, as i began to experience different things in life. The early stages of my life were much more simpler and relax, however just like how the music had slowly transitioned, my life has become a blast of archaic and wild memories. At one point in my essay, i being to describe an experience I had at a festival. I used sound effects in my best attempt to mimic my first experience at one. During that point in my life, I decided to reach out my comfort zone on a whim and explore a music genre i would never expect to enjoy. My reaction can be felt during the recording and the music exponentially became louder and more chaotic. In the background you will hear various sound drops such as a heart beat or glass shattering. They represent the shattering of my "innocence" as a result of my experience at the festival. Im sure many of you can already pinpoint but i have sampled many different songs and mixed them myself. The follow songs are included below.
The last few seconds of my Sono essay represents the after effect and is left for interpretation for the audience. Of course the actual meaning is there but i choose not to say as it is more personal to myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5cHBB9tVos&index=1&list=LL_Ol-sHRFYI86LG-RvTGknQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2jZmXePKV0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amNvDULdNk8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwUt9u92nMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibxd8DMTUIw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ju8Hr50Ckwk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPoXYOSyQ98 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ips2mM7Zqw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H64QG4UsrGI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96lCUfORlOo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zXxKyTTxl8&t=65s

This sound essay depicts an unknown girl walking through the woods after going out for a run on her usual outdoor route. While listening to music through her headphones, her thoughts drift back to past life events. Moreover, she is pondering her experience from being terminally ill throughout high school and her adolescence. It affected her physically, emotionally, and mentally. Through this obstacle, she was able to make friends through foundations like Make-A-Wish, cope with bullying and body image, face her fear with claustrophobia through an MRI, and move on with her life. Her illness does not define her anymore.
School has finally ended and everyone is off doing their own thing. Isabella has decided to travel this time around all thanks to her ex, Jay. Some may think it's out of revenge to show him how much better she is without him. Yet all she wanted was to have a good time with good company. In this case she decided to go with her best friend, Elizabeth. It's a matter of moving on and enjoying the things we had together. Rather than the terrible ending that was to come. Instead of a "forget you," it is more along the lines of "thanks."

Kendall and Kimberly, two best friends, prepare for a night out. The girls have the typical struggles of a girl getting ready to go to a party. After getting all primped and ready, they head to the party. The party is wild and the girls meet up with all of their friends. They all dance the night away together, laughing and singing. The party dies down and Kendall and Kimberly decide to call an Uber so they can head home. They were not prepared for the emotional ride with the song that put Kimberly in tears because she was sent back to reality and her every day struggles. We are left wondering what exactly sets Kimberly off crying. However, after the girls finally get to bed and Kimberly falls asleep, we hear the vibrating of her phone. Who is calling her? Is this why she was so upset? Just another night out.

This sono-essay was a tale/rant and virtual experience of my most reoccurring thoughts throughout high school and into college. It consists of a conversation with my mom, my ever-changing taste in music of all kinds. You hear me struggling to make all the coins not get stuck on the bus on my morning commutes. I leave things on a weird note, not negative or resolved, but more open-ended and confusing to let you feel how I currently feel. How I got here was like a stream of consciousness or random entries from a mental diary, there are some things better left unsaid, and others that there’s no harm to say. Hope you all get lost with me and I’m pretty sure it’s psychological, but hearing yourself on a recording can be so annoying overtime, but if singers can do it, why not I. I also took sounds such as the bus taking off, and the shower turning on, and being in a nosy cafeteria, since when I’m eating and not distracted by technology I tend to think of all sorts of things, and same goes for public transportation since besides reading, there’s not much else for me to do.
In my Sono-Essay I hope to answer the question of how did I get here by taking it a bit literally and telling the story of how i was born. I do this by introducing and going through the pasts of my parents, who I made sure to reference so as to ensure the accuracy of the essay as much as possible. What I'm trying to do with my essay is create a narrative that tells a story and hopefully create an atmosphere while listening. I had to mess with the audio a lot to get transitions and i couldn't figure out how to make my voice any louder so the project as a whole might be quite sorry :( . Hopefully it’s ok

Hey! What do you do in your free time? Basketball, football,...? After coming to Rutgers I have gotten countless questions that relate to sports and whether or not I par-take. I guess it must be because Rutgers is such a large school that has tons of athletic clubs and teams that have a big following. But what I spend my free time on is my car and brushing up on skills to gain my that tenth of a second on track. Be it countless hours working on the car or sitting in my chair staring at a screen reading some Speed Secrets to see where I could improve. I could not think of anything better than being on track with a bunch of my friends chasing each other around like Tom and Jerry.
