HAVING LOWER PAINS WHILE ON TESTOSTERONE?
YOU'RE NOT ALONE! This is not as uncommon as you may think. Today, the day after my one year post top surgery, I find out I need to have a full hysterectomy. I'm scheduled for March 28th. A month and 4 days away. I have been on testosterone for a year and 9 months. I've been having miserable and horrible pains in my lower abdomen on a daily basis. The pain is like menstrual cramps but worse. This pain has me feeling paralyzed- I can't move or function. It's really awful. They've been happening for months and had been occasional, but have gotten more frequent over time. I went to my endocrinologist to get some input. I explained these daily episodes and I was told I should see a gynecologist. Of course I'm NOT wanting to do this, but I do because the pain is THAT bad (I would put it off another 5 years otherwise). The gynecologist then sends me to have an ultrasound done to check for cysts and found that I don't have them. The ultrasound was definitely a hard experience for me since they have an internal procedure as well as external. The internal was NOT fun. I definitely don't wish this experience on anyone- especially people with bottom dysphoria. They also had to do some blood work to rule out some other things (honestly don't know what). The doctors say that there doesn't seem to be anything else really wrong other than the pains I have and no way to really tell what is causing them. I am done with this pain and told them that I will agree to get a full hysterectomy because my body sucks and will find a way to put me under the knife again somehow. All of the doctors have treated me the way I would want to be treated and have been very supportive. I feel I am in good hands. The article below helped me feel less alone when I thought I was the only one having these issues. While I understand that it might not be fully accurate, it still helped. I'm putting this out there so others don't feel alone. We don't seem to talk about this stuff. It is happening to a lot of us on testosterone.
