My Little Pony—Elements of Magic

Heyyyyy, I’m back… with my little pony of all things. Honestly I’ve been working on this one for like 2 years, and it just took a while for me to come up with all the designs, so… yeah, here it is: my theoretical MLP generation set in the past with a loose connection to both G-4 and G-5, as well as lore references to G1, since G1 is cool. It would probably take place before all three.

So here’s the premise: the story exists in a version of pony land where no magic exists. All ponies are earth ponies, with full colors and mundane lives. There are legends and rumors about mythic ponies with wings or horns, ponies that could swim in the sea or change shape, but no tangible evidence that magic exists. Then, one day, ponies all over pony land start developing strange marks on their flanks, (aka cutie marks,) and our protagonist, Willow Whispers, notices a change in the air while listening to the whispers of the leaves of a willow tree, and it almost seems as if something has been brought back to Ponyland from a time long past. She and her best friend, Fable Story, go on a quest together to discover the secrets behind these changes, and discover the mysteries behind the magic.

The general idea that started this fic was “what if each of the elements of harmony was linked to one of the pony races?” So I assigned an element to Pegasai, unicorns, flutter ponies, sea ponies, earth ponies and alicorn respectively because I thought it would be cool. And I gave them all old-sounding names because I like to imagine that the names of the elements change over time. Each pony is transformed by the magic as they perform an act that heavily resonates with their particular element, (for example, Gusty earns her wings when she faces unknowable danger and overcomes her fear, finding the light of hope inside her to keep her going.) I feel like it’s a cool idea, and I’ll probably make more posts about it in the future. :)

From the Notebook:

First, there was only a lush, untouched world called Aerelis. Or, it would soon be called that, as for the time being there was no one there to call it anything at all, and it was lonely; all its gifts meant nothing, for there was no one there to enjoy them.

So it laid an egg: a massive, golden egg with silver seams. From this egg hatched two nimble creatures with two legs and two arms, one with golden hair and one with silver, and they called their mother first by Her name. 

The first Twin took seed from the soil and planted it again, and from her seeds grew animals of all kinds, big and small, so the Mother would have more children to keep Her company. But some of these children were now hungry and did not fill by eating the fruit and the grasses, so the second Twin with silver hair gave them sharp teeth and claws to hunt the grass- and fruit-eating animals to eat instead. When they were caught, He took the harvest of the soul from the body and returned it back to the fair-haired Twin for Her to plant into the earth again.

But now the Life-Giving Twin and the Life-Taking Twin found themselves strange around all the creatures they’d created together, which were hairy and scaly, fanged and clawed, and that ate grass and raw flesh and didn’t look anything like them at all, so they went back to Mother Aerelis to plead for her to make them more like the rest of the creatures that now crawled about Her realm.

The Mother refused. Instead She lay another egg, one that was an earthy brown tone in colour and had stripes in all the shades of the soil, and which was much smaller than the egg the Twins had hatched from, and She told the Twins to take it and nurture it, and if they proved themselves ready, one day it would hatch and within it they’d find something that would be entirely their own.

So the Twins took the egg and nurtured it, and after a thousand years it hatched, revealing from within the first peoples of Aerelis, who were black like the soil and brown like the slopes of the mountains and some the colour of the sands by the seas, and who were just like the Twins with two legs and two arms and who could eat the fruit and the grain and the flesh of all the other creatures, and build and create just like the Twins could.

Amongst them the Twins finally saw that they were just like the Mother, and that within them lay the same spark, and that the creation was good. Contented and joyful they lay to rest, keeping an ever-watchful eye on the realms of their children from that day onwards.

Along the way, he encounters valleys, forests, storms, caves, and villages that each reveal a different lesson about human behaviour.

“Angel , Angel, look , a phoenix on the tree!” 凤凰？ 朱雀 😁 . 听说是全身赤红… 没人见过，只听说过。 I am guessing it may be a family member of peacock 🦚. I heard from a friend saying : otters eat red colour fish first before going to chase grey fish 🐟.. Don’t know why.. is it colour trigger them?

🥰 for the ask game

🥰 something heartwarming - this took me THREE DAYS to pick a scene. Mostly because anything remotely heartwarming is several pages long and this is tunglr dot com. Anyways;

Theodor sat on the bed with a blanket thrown over his lap, his back against a pile of pillows allowing him to rest in an upright position. He smiled at Eleisanna and nodded at her, fingers treading the shape of a book on his lap.

”This is most unexpected, Fair Eleisanna,” he noted.

Eleisanna smiled, pulling herself a seat to sit beside him.

”What are you reading?” she asked, turning her eyes for the book he was holding.

”'The Tales and Adventures of One Man in the Arant’, a totally fictitious recounting of a smith’s apprentice who escapes his financial troubles into the mountains of Arant and gets quite lost in the most wonderful way,” Theodor said, turning the leather cover over and handing the book to Eleisanna, who took it curiously.

She flipped a few pages and noticed in an instant that much of the book contained poetry, which wasn’t the usual kind nobles would read but rather mundane and even at times entirely foreign in its subjects to Eleisanna.

”I believe it must be rather interesting,” she said as she handed the book back to Theodor, who nodded.

”Unbelievable, at times; I believe the hero of the story is about to meet a wyvern, and there are positively no wyverns in the Arant that I’ve ever heard of.”

Eleisanna chuckled.

”In Wryth it is believed that there may be some in the mountains between our lands and those of Karaketh,” she said then, ”Do you think that it’s possible?”

Theodor’s fingers returned to tread the book’s open page. He looked thoughtful for a moment, but a tired smile lingered upon his lips.

”I would rather want to believe so,” he confessed, ”though as a king I’d do better not wanting such things to exist, as a beast that both flies and breathes fire would pose a significant threat to the safety of the realm. They are notoriously hard to slay in all the legends, aren’t they? But it is not the slaying I think of when I dream of wyverns.”

Eleisanna nodded eagerly.

”When I think of them I don’t dream of killing one,” she agreed, ”but rather of simply witnessing one in the flesh... seeing an eagle leaves a heart yearning already. I believe I might lose my footing if I were to see something as magnificent as a wyvern.”
