so i was sick for a few days and my sinuses were really congested and just generally icky feeling, so i used this to ease out some of the congestion and leave my face feeling awesome before bed.
☼ lavender buds
☼ linden flowers/leaves
☼ rose petals
☼ sprig of fresh lemon balm (best chopped) or a tsp of lemon juice
☼ 2 cups of water
(all herbs aside from lemon balm can be fresh or dried, and use however much of each herb as you like)
☼ First, you’ll want to fill a pot or pan with your water. spring or moon water is suggested for a little extra “oomf” to the spell. I like to set it on a really high setting while i get the rest of my things together in a separate bowl so that it’ll heat quickly.
☼ As it comes close to a rolling boil, visualize yourself pouring your energy into your bowl of herbs. When the water is boiling and your chest feels lighter, pour your herbs into the water and lower the heat to a simmer. mix with a spoon to assure all herbs are fully submerged at least once.
☼ Cover with a lid and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes. After your 10 minutes, turn off the heat and let it sit for a minute or two, or until you’re comfortable letting the steam touch your face.
☼ Make sure your face is clean, pull back your hair if need be, and pull off the lid. Hold your face in the direct line of steam and deeply inhale. Visualize yourself taking your energy back in, now purified and cleansed.
☼ Once your head feels clearer and you can breathe a little easier, you’re done. You can dispose of the herb water by watering your plants with it or simply pouring it down the drain, or you can strain the herbs and keep it for another facial steam (just re-heat in a lidded pot and follow steps 3 and 4). I’d also suggest putting it in a small glass bowl or cup and leaving it on your windowsill as an offering. add a little sugar and leave the herbs in it if you’re leaving an offering for fair folk.
hope this helps! happy steaming friends
