Before and After! Her face isn't perfectly symmetrical, but I'm happy with it for now.
i finished 2 practise faceups this weekend, which was super productive for me between chipping at other projects. this was #3 and the most recent face
i rlllly like how my doll faceups are coming along
Day off so I decided to do a faceup for Bianca. I brought her flat feet down as well because I figured I could use them to test colours as I've never done a grey doll before. Considering my previous attempt at a manicure was a disaster I didn't expect the feet would look any good but I was pleasantly surprised.
I also did her ears and tried out a new brush which gave some pleasingly thin lines.
Again I wasn't trying too hard with the ears cos the first thing I did was over spray one but they turned out okay.
So you'd think her face, the part I was focused on, would have turned out great. Eh...
I like the colours but it's so blotchy. Her lips turned out pretty well and I actually did eyelashes - I don't usually bother because I'm awful at them. I had time and figured I could do better, figuring the blotchiness was probably due to not letting the sealant dry properly, so I wiped her.
And it started off okay...
But it was downhill from here. Blotchiness again and I blanked on what colours I'd used for her lips so I'm not keen on the colour. And I used different paint for the eyelashes so they turned out worse than the first attempt.
So now she looks like she went out on the lash and the first attempt is how she looked when she got home and the second one is the morning after with most of her makeup on her pillow XP
I tried to redo just the eyebrows of Vaskey's faceup but it hasn't worked out too well. It doesn't show badly in the photo but you can see the line where the previous sealant has been removed and there's like a tide mark along the bottom edge. So I guess I'll have to redo the whole thing at some point which is kind of a shame cos there's nothing wrong with his mouth and while I wasn't sure about the Jack Sparrow eyes to begin with, they grew on me.
Ward meanwhile got completely wiped and redone. He's a lot better than he was but I think the blush is a bit overdone. And I struggle with blonde eyebrows so he got brown ones and I'm not hugely sold on them. I still need to sort that wig out instead of just randomly hacking at it wherever it occurs to me.
Redid Luana's faceup and she has better eyebrows now but I don't think they're scowly enough for her. Or maybe it's because I overdid it with the blush that she looks too *nice*. Vaskey also got his first faceup but I completely cocked his eyebrows up. I'm not sure about the dark eyeshadow - I like it on Rinku's default makeup but I don't think I pulled it off as well. His teeth were actually easier to do than I expected - not quite perfect but pretty good. His wig is quite nice in normal light so it's a shame it photographs so plasticky.
Did these guys' faceups today. I was not having a good eyebrow day - I may have scrubbed some of the dye off trying to fix them XP but they're good enough for now
Last face for today, #9, Soom Morga
