Special sewing lesson with His Highness (part 2). This time his result was much better 😃
Been playing with Kai and some spare wigs at home. I think Kai looks interesting with curls, but he also looks like he’s on his way to getting his own kingdom, or something. 🪶👀
WiP - Cross Marian - Frilly Shirt
After some research I decided to add the frilly shirt to the sewing pile as Cross not only has two cassocks (hell no I won't sew both, he has even more but i am only willing to do a certain amount to get the most recent outfit or the one I like the most done) but two shirts and he wears the red lined cassock with both of them. Well long story short: here is the progress of the frilly shirt.
As the shirt has pintucks on one side I had to test how they are made, I never made pintucks but was willing to learn how to do them. I learned making them "backwards" is smarter and that I need to calculate in more fabric when doing them.
The button row was added, I had thought about adding real buttons but decided against it as Cross has this weird inbetween scale and they would add too much bulk for the overall shirt.
The sleeves got their ruffles, a bit more toned down as in the original and hey I managed to not make them 2m too long for the doll.
Next up was adding the collar and the ruffles for it. of course I tested like a million times .. you know me and my luck with collars.
As mentioned I learned I need to add more fabric when doing pintucks as the shirt was too small now, or let's phrase it different: the closure was in the middle and the shirt is supposed to be closed slightly off to one side.
Sewing in sleeves, closing seams, adding snap buttons and we are almost done!
In the end I corrected one pintuck that somehow didn't get caught by the thread and added pearls as visible "buttons", which give the shirt a much finer look than buttons would have.
Next up is the cassock!
We do ignore i messed up the posting order and this was done before the cassock :')

WiP - Cross Marian - Wig
Finally a full doll project after HOW MANY MONTHS? No matter what it has been way too long.
First was making the cap and choosing the fiber. Funfact: the fiber is from 2014, and it's still enough for several wigs, I am beyond impressed.
Then glueing the wefts, I was sure it would not be enough prepared wefts but it was enough. After I made the parting i let the whole thing cure overnight with some cling wrap over it to let the parting set.
Trimming followed next. I might adjust some bits later on. It was a rather easy even though the parting decided to be a bit annoying, but it's still not the most complicated haircut.
Here we go, still with protection but I had the rest of the doll in the other room for sewing.
Sneak peek onto the base of his outfit I guess. Here he is with hair. I think I really need to trim the wig a bit more but I want to see how it works with the mask and face up first.
hes so photogenic its unreal these arent even edited
Do you ever just look at your dolls and fall in love all over again 😍
Free Time = Doll Time for me and just in time as my SmD boy's eyes finally came in the mail! Wig is still in the cart unfortunately 😮💨
