I love blank dolls. There is something beautiful and special to them. They have so much potential, can go in any direction. Plus, many of bjd are simply gorgeous even blank.

Sometimes I feel almost sad to paint my dolls as a result. And I also enjoy removing faceups, just for the joy of rediscovering how pretty they are under it!

Honestly people sometimes assume that all recast owners have no aesthetic taste whatsoever because people always say recasts are ugly when really I have seen so many people butcher legit dolls with ugly faceups, bad dyejobs or horrible wigs. And recasts are exact copies of legits so howcan they be ugly? I do my own faceups and I have been able to practice a lot. I am no master but it looks good. I buy my dolls good clothes and wigs and get so many compliments for my 'legits' it is laughable.

i got these two pieces in a trade with a lovely DoA user, and I couldn’t resist plopping on pyxis’ head real fast to do an outfit. it’s so cute!!!!!! 😭😭

Sigh. My color matching by way of faceup is not going great. And I'm discovering to my great dismay that my inexpensive chalk pastel set must have a great deal of white in each stick, making everything look ashy. Pink doesn't blend into the brown base layer for example. It sits on top looking ... white. Argh.

Tonight is no time to be looking at panpastels. Even single pans are in the range of $8 each and I'm not certain even after all these years that I want to invest that much cause my faceup skills aren't good. Arghhhh frustrating.

Mixing black or brown into red isn't any better. Still turns light greyish. Hnnng
