Post-Exertional Malaise (PEM) – What It Is and How To Avoid It
This fact sheet explains what post-exertional malaise is (including what mitochondria and ATP is) and how to avoid and/or deal with it, using fairly plain language:
(and it is archived here)
This resource has been written by a NZ-based organization (Complex Chronic Illness Support) but all the info should be applicable to everyone worldwide.
Currently working on that new Luke fact sheet now that I have all of his voicelines laid out before me like a dnd table EHEHEHEEEE!
Anyway, does anyone have any idea how to further categorize and clean up the list? I know I got them sectioned out by category and by who/when it was said, but even then, it's still a whole bunch of stuff just smashed together... Subcategories?
-Kusho is, according to her lore, around 1,500 years old…
-How she envelops other creatures into her own form is unknown, as no one has ever experienced it and escaped…
-Canines, such as wolves and foxes, are the visible majority of the creatures she uses in her appearance, but other creatures have been assimilated by her in the past, she rarely, if ever, allows their muzzles to be seen…
-Each of the muzzles can move independently and often growl, snarl and make noise, despite the fact that the consciousness attached to them is long gone after several days…
-None of the snouts have the ability to speak besides the one that Kusho uses to communicate…
ANOTHER BIG WARNING FOR INSECT-LIKE FEATURES AND BEHAVIORS
Okay so I made some better close ups for Insectfolk OC and I think I got a better idea of what he looks like… along with some facts! :0
1. Once he finished Land Camp, he looked like the appearance on the left with mostly human features except for the far ears. He is using a potion that allows him to look human, but as the potion wears off, he starts looking like the right illustration. His mandibles and eyebrows start to grow out slowly and his scleras start to darken over time.
2. Alongside the mandibles and eyebrows start antenna, he starts to grow grooves under his eyes and on his cheekbones. This resembles the grooves on a praying mantis.
3. His eyebrow antenna are very sensitive. Absolutely abhors having people touch them. Doesn’t mind being touched anywhere else, however.
4. Unironically calls every authority figure ‘queen’ with a lowercase q. Only uses the uppercase Queen for his land’s Queen.
5. Is in Pomefiore!
6. Is used to raising food to his mandibles and letting them do the work. Was told that eating with his hands were improper, but doesn’t like using utensils. In human form, he just either lowers his head to the tray or raises the tray and tilts the food into his mouth.
7. Usually focuses on helping whatever authority figure he prioritizes in a mental list. This means that he often down the bare minimum and pesters the leader he’s under until they give him something to do, or he needs to work on something academic.
8. Thinks of NRC as a huge colony, and therefore another kingdom with its own leader (Crowley).
9. Extremely fast and athletically skilled. Because of his fae and insect origins, he is physically stronger than most humans.
10. Struggles with speaking and explaining things. All he really had to do back home was take care of the Queen, smell some good pheromones, and do his job and everything would be perfect. Why do humans need an explanation for everything?
11. Easily manipulated to do work or other things if someone claims that it’s for the good of the ‘colony.’ However, he often doesn’t do everything that people ask him for because everyone has a job to do. Why ask him for help when it’s your job to do it? Despite his community-based beliefs, he has great self-care routines to keep him healthy and strong.
12. Often wanders around in the nature in and around NRC. Claims it’s to secure the premises, but he’s done enough rounds that everyone knows it’s because he likes to be with nature. What they don’t know is that he wanders the forest pretending to be looking for food for his Queen. He’s very homesick.
13. Is able to eat a lot of food people would consider unhealthy, unsanitary, or disgusting. Yes, this includes Lilia’s cooking.
14. Likes to wander barefoot.
15. Can’t swim. Of course, he doesn’t know that yet and hasn’t experienced drowning. Yet.
16. Loves to fight with anyone who challenges him, especially Floyd. Sure, it hurts, but each movement tells a story that he can understand.
17. Although he can eat a lot of stuff, he often sticks with a simple green salad and a bunch of other bugs. If nobody steps in, he’d probably either get sick because of his limited palette or spend his entire day hunting for food and getting nothing done.
18. Favors Floyd, Ruggie, Azul, and Sebek. Disfavors Idia, Leona, and Ace.
19. Fluent in water magic, loves magic analysis, and music.
