So when it comes those fade-touched mats I always pictured extremely anxious people pushing a cart near a rift. Once they get in place, they run away and all the mats get those fade drippings on them making them potent as well as valuable.

I absolutely loved the Emprise du Lion. I loved hearing the dragons before getting the quest. I loved the architecture. And there was one area where I revisited several times  and it gave me plenty of tier 3 and fade touched mats

Fell/Dread Wolf

This is a codex in the Frostback Basin called “The Hunt of the Fell Wolf.” It talks about a demon wolf Ameridan and his friend hunt.

You can read the whole text of it here, the gist of it is:

Favored like a wolf it was, In size like Woodsman’s Death. Within its eyes burned eldritch fire, The Fade in every breath.

The hunters are able to kill the wolf after finding a fade-touched stone idol in its layer and shattering it. We know coming in contact with magic where the Veil is thin allows creatures to grow larger and stronger than normally.

But, honestly, reading the description in that codex, what does it make you think of?

I think it’s totally possible the depiction of the “Dread Wolf” as a giant beast with flaming red eyes was created as a metaphor by the evanuris to invoke fear. Why depict Fen’Harel as an elf when a giant wolf is far scarier?

But given the effect the Fade can have on creatures, and with Solas having lived in a time where the Fade and the physical world were the same, it’s also possible there was an actual giant wolf Solas could control.

There’s also the theory that Solas can shape-shift into the wolf. But I do have to wonder if one can shape-shift into a fade-touched creature. Morrigan talks about needing to study a creature before being able to mimic it. Were there giant animals walking around in Solas’ time that would be common enough to imitate?

One thought I can’t get out of my head is shape-shifting into a normal wolf and then self-inflicted spirit possession to go the rest of way.

I have no conclusions to draw here, just emptying my thoughts. But I keep asking, when the evanuris say to “beware the forms of Fen’Harel,” are they being metaphorical or literal? Does Solas have the ability to physically take on other forms?

Or is a headdress just a headdress?
