general ; hybern only keeps people around so long as they are useful. in the past, he’s had generals, advisers, and guardians slaughtered for no longer serving his purpose. some who had been around only a week, others who served him for decades. his general has served the longest thus far, but has found himself debating her usefulness.

cauldron ; there were centuries between the time hybern learned of the cauldron, learned where it was located, and managed to acquire it. he knew the power that it could wield. it created the world, and now it would be used to create his new world.

the extent of the king of hybern’s power is unknowable, because he has made it so. there are many who show their entire hand of cards through bragging or the inability to let others think them weak. hybern has never had a problem such as that. he uses every potential advantage in his arsenal. this, perhaps, is his greatest power. however, he was born with immense magical ability that he has only enhanced through years of intense study. he’s developed an impressive library of magical tomes as well as a collection of artifacts of unbelievable power. not a soul alive knows the extent to which he can manipulate all of these things.

the king is cunning and brutal, more than willing to sacrifice the lives of soldiers and even relatives in order to accomplish his goals. he is willing to negotiate peacefully, if that is the easier route to serve his purposes. however, he likely always has a plan to betray anyone that dares to enter into an arrangement with him. even his family and most high ranking generals know to be wary of their usefulness. he is incredibly intelligent. he spends a good deal of his time plotting and scheming and has suffered few defeats in the grand scheme of things. the king is an avid student of the magical arts, and keeps many powerful spells within a spellbook that he carries at all times. he is always eager to get his hands on a new piece of magic, and thanks to being one of the oldest fae alive, he has more knowledge that has been lost to the ages for everyone else.

the king of hybern has been so for as long as most living fae remember. in all that time, he has been known as a ruthless yet cunning ruler. in the war for human liberation, he was one of the most adamantly opposed to it. some speculate that it is because he had the most human slaves to lose, other think it had more to do with his need to subjugate. despite speculation, the war would have been over far faster had he not been involved. it was his shrewd strategics, immense knowledge of magic, and unyielding warfare that kept the battles raging for so many years. even when he had lost, he had no intention of giving up. he and his people slaughtered every last one of their human slaves rather than see them freed. then he closed to borders to his lands. he forbid travel and trade with any outsiders, especially those who had supported the human’s fight for freedom. hybern worked well in the shadows, and this seclusion ensured that his every action was shadowed. until he sent his general as an ambassador to prythian, no one had heard from hybern. until the wall came down, no one had seen him either. now, he is all anyone can talk about.
