fake daeron dress ups^~^
tessarion is the bestest girl. she was standing in proper formation even when her rider wasn't near. i bet daeron told her to stay and she just stuck to that spot, didn't even try to follow him when he left! she didn't budge even though there were multiple big dragons in front of her. but she started vocalizing when she heard daeron's name said!
wait wait wait tossdir & faeron childhood friends to strangers D: D: D: ????????????
They do reconnect! Eventually! But they are nearly-strangers like, directly post BtS, after Tossdir has been away following Meneldir for so many years and comes back so traumatized he practically seems like a different guy. When you meet Faeron in Tornhad he very much still seems a bit childish and silly, not terribly different from how he was when Tossdir left, so it's a very jarring change for both of them and they find they don't even know how to talk to each other anymore. (and that distance that grew between them is probably a big factor in why Tossdir feels so isolated from the other Rangers after returning)
But that's only temporary! They do become proper friends again eventually (Grey Company trauma bond yay!!!)
Faeron...I was there. I know Viznak. Perhaps the blight is effecting your memory.
A comment about this that made me laugh.
4: Tornhad Shelter Caves (Faeron)
It’s a close fit for all of them, but the children manage to wriggle out their own space at the far back of the caves. Free from direct parental anxiety, they consult, discuss, and take bets on whatever is happening outside.
“Ada says gambling is bad,” A nine-year-old tells Faeron.
“That’s only when it’s money,” Faeron assures him, and takes the promise of a favor with satisfied glee.
Three say warg attack. Four say Dunlending raid. One little boy is convinced that the wraiths of Rhudaur have risen again and another thinks Hammon tripped into the alarm bell and nothing’s happening at all. They argue in whispers over whose parents have killed the most orcs and whose weapons-training has begun already.
Every noncombatant (loosely defined, Faeron has seen Dérien with that ladle) has crammed into the shelter caves that lie just outside the city. With them are twelve sworn Rangers as a guard. And Faeron.
He counts, probably, though Mithrendan had waved him into the group without saying thirteen and would probably claim forgetfulness once all this was over. Terrible man, he just didn’t want Faeron pairing up with Angwedh again. You lock a man in his own forge once...
Faeron answers three questions about warg anatomy before a horrified aunt shuts him down, then starts giving ludicrously wrong answers instead to make them laugh. The children are happy, occupied, and not sneaking off to premature heroics: this is a total success, whatever the side-eyes from the other end of the cave.
Trying out the LOTRO prompts challenge again, this time for October! I'll continue to use a-lonely-dunedain's Wheel of Ranger Doom as inspiration, though not as strictly.
