“In all the time you’ve been here, you’ve barely gotten any messages you know.” Cobra says quietly, flicking through Caleb’s phone. There’s one new message from Jack- but it’s so jumbled it was probably sent by accident. No calls, no voice mails, and just a picture of a garden from an unknown date. It’s sad, really. “I pity you. You were supposed to get married yesterday, weren’t you? I bet your parents were just waiting for you to get your chance to stand at the altar. No- wait.. Not even a call from them. In fact, no one on your guest list said a word. Not even an apology that your day got missed. I told you why I grabbed you, didn’t I? This is the proof.”
“You could have been dead by now. If you had been taken by anyone else besides me you would be.” He tossed Caleb’s phone down into his lap with a sigh. “I really did get the best information on who to take to draw this out. Might have to use that informant again after your boss finally comes. Or after I go kill him. I’m very patient, but if I leave this for much longer he’ll find a sniper. I wonder, do you still think they’ll come?”
