I’m warning you now, my music tastes are all over the damn place, so I may focus on one genre more than others, and that’s okay. If not? Make your own damn list so I can grouse about yours.
1. “Matangi” - M.I.A. Seriously. Listen to it. It will have you on some girl gang shit; partying and fucking up everything.
Recommended tracks: Matangi, Bad Girls
2. “The Methuselah Tree” - iVardensphere. Really solid album. Tribal industrial music is pretty much an experience unto itself, but it's definitely worth it. Side note: listen to those two albums back to back. It’s an amazing experience.
Recommended tracks: Snakecharmer, Eclipse
3. "How I Learned To Stop Giving A Shit And Love Mindless Self Indulgence" - MSI. For people that know me, and I mean really know me..I never was too huge of an MSI fan. But this album actually made me like that scrawny bastard Jimmy. Odd.
Recommended tracks: Ala Mode, Hey Tomorrow Fuck You And Your Friend Yesterday
4. "Filofobia" - Amduscia. If you want some heavy, harsh Mexican industrial? These are the go-to guys. Put on your best shitkicker boots and have at it while listening to this album.
Recommended tracks: Dig Your Grave, Where Is Your God?
5. "Companion in Crime" - Funker Vogt
Yeah, yeah..I know. Funker Vogt; singing about the same ish, etc. But this one? Pretty damn good. Hell, I couldn't even remember the last album they came out with, and this one? Man, this gave me some serious club flashbacks; blending old school with new school.
Recommended Tracks: Six Feet Under, Kampf der Maschinen
6. "We Came To Wreck Everything" - Ludovico Technique
Just listen to it, dammit.
Recommended tracks: Wired For Destruction (God Module), Then I Found You (Shiv-r)
7. "Magna Carter Holy Grail" - Jay-Z. Ha. I tossed rap into this. Anyway, Jay Z really could have stayed retired and not really have needed to put this out. However, I can't say that I wasn't grateful for it. His wordplay level is still sharp, not quite 'Life and Times' sharp, but still can get the most stubborn of heads nodding.
Recommended tracks: Tom Ford, Picasso Baby
8. "The Machinists of Joy" - Die Krupps
I can't believe I wrote that. But seriously, the album is pretty good, as long as you keep an open mind about it. Just do me a favor; skip over 'Robo-Sapien'.
Recommended tracks: Risikofaktor, Essenbeck
9. "The Cortex Zero Effect" - Massiv in Mensch
I'm gonna level with you; this album is all over the place. It starts off with some slow synthpop, then it's gets into dancy EBM, and almost every point in between. And I enjoyed every moment of it.
Recommended tracks: The Cortex Zero Effect, On My Way To Oblivion
10. "Transnational" - VNV Nation
As much as I like to make fun of Ronan (come on, it's too easy in a way), you can tell these guys actually put a lot of work into this. They still enjoy their club anthems here and there, but sometimes the slower stuff can be good for the contemplative moments. So there's my grudging respect for Ronan and Mark. Meh. lol
Recommended tracks: Retaliate, Aeroscope
Other albums I liked but didn't feel like going in depth about:
'Big Bad Wolf EP' - Aesthetic Perfection
'Eric Gottesman' and 'Marco Visconti EP' - The Causticles
There are probably others, but this is what you get when I write stuff after working around banking regulations for 8+ hours.
