*TAPS FEET IN A MOST PATIENT MANNER*
Something I have noticed, but no less hilarious
So, with my year anniversary with the band coming up, this thought popped up. Almost every place I've played as of late, THERE ARE OTHER BLACK KEYBOARD PLAYERS! It's nothing to be angry about, but something to be truly celebrated. Hell, the first Black keyboard player I met on the road played in my friend Jim Semonik's band Rein[Forced] (check it out, by the way. Good folks making good music). His name is Turner and damn it if this man isn't amazing. He has a regular key setup and on a smaller riser he has a synth too and he plays the hell out of it. It was definitely a treat seeing him play and an honor. It goes with the idea of not feeling like the odd one out in scene gatherings. It feels great. The next person I met did keys for a bit for Grendel. Solomon was another cool dude to vibe with, and he was on the same page with me. He also thought it was cool that there are other Black folks trying to make their mark in the scene, even in someone else's band. In passing, I told him about Turner and he was amazed as well. He jokingly said that we're going to take over the genre, but honestly? I'm liking that idea. I would really love to see more PoC in the scene to break up the homogenous nature of it (cis white males). Hell, more ladies too! I can see how some people would see the scene as non inclusive, but if there's something you want to do music wise? Kick the fucking door down and make that space for self. Granted I kinda slid into the door, but since I'm here? I plan to fuck shit up. :)
contentkiller replied to your post:Hardison Backstory Headcanon/ OT3 Stuff
I didn’t know you did Leverage stuff! :D
Well I do now, I've been in a fan of Leverage for a while, but just finished the series and also found out it was cancelled....so I'm just posting my own headcanons for Hardison seeing as how the writers didn't wanna give him a fucking backstory.
I've only known you for a short time, but I find you to be wonderful. <3
contentkiller replied to your post “contentkiller he literally said cultural appropriation don’t exist.”
Of course he's gonna say that. When thieves have stolen for so long, they aren't even aware that they're stealing. It becomes compulsory over time.
I am just done. I'm not about keeping explaining shit over and over, I've literally explained at least 3 times over. And I said the same thing cultural exchange is not the same as cultural appropriation. The moment I read that bullshit, I immediately just smiled, like you have no grounds in this conversation.....I'm just sitting here like wow, whiteness is interesting the blatant ignorance and denial. Notice how he also deleted some of the things I've said too.
Still trying to improve on doing set transitions as smooth as humanly possible. Small victories are victories nonetheless. :)
