I will never not love that Mark is mentioned for all of about 4 pages in Chris’s book and he chose a good portion to talk about how annoyed he was with Mark’s aesthetic appeal in this photo, like wow your gay really be showing Chris and ily so much for it cause same.

Chris: “A photo from that period that ran in Harvard’s newspaper ‘ The Crimson’ shows Mark at his desk, a half-dozen empty soda bottles at his side, his hair overgrown but freshly combed. I remember the scramble to make him civilized for the shot, and we were barely successful.” 

Also I can only imagine that this shirt was Chris’s doing as well XD

What do other people deserve?

Perhaps it’s related to what you think you deserve:

Kindness.

Dignity.

A chance to speak up.

A fair shot at achievement.

The benefit of the doubt.

Now that I think of it...

Picking details apart, playing devil’s advocate and standing on the cynical side of the road is the easy route. Believing and proving are much harder than discounting and doubting.

I want to be with J, so it’s easy for me to focus on the parts of Christianity that are hard to swallow so that I don’t have to adhere to it.

The fear of being wrong is surely worth exploring. But I need to work against my people pleasing tendencies and fear of disapproval by other people. I don’t think those are healthy.

Needless to say, my questions are still real and present. But I ask them with cynicism and a closed mind behind every word. I need to try harder to be a bit more objective and give each possibility a fair shot into the truth seat.

So what if it didn't work out. We gave it a fair shot and we tried and we had an amazing run. Some things are just not meant to last forever and that's okay.
