Okay I’m being active on here again what a surprise (these things tend to come in waves). So. If you guys wanna send in asks, by all means do so. The inbox is always open and we’ll be super happy to hear from you guys (don’t listen to lypt, we’d love your dumb headcanons) also, if you wanna ask about our opinions on something within the fowldom,go ahead. You can specify which admin you’re asking as well, depending on how you want it answered. Long winded? Wara. Snappish? Lypt. Off topic and probably won’t actually be answered because she’s like Minerva and hasn’t been seen since her single appearance? Ro. Oh yeah I'll totally do audio posts if you wanna hear my dumb accent and stuff like that and if my computer actually can record stuff idk if it can -I just need more activity on this blog I don’t want it to collect dust especially for this small yet dedicated fandom- Wara

Centaurs

The Fairies, also known as the Fair-Folk, is a common term used for multiple species, split into eight families- Elves, Pixies, Sprites, Dwarves, Gnomes, Goblins, Centaurs, and Demons (also known as Hybrasians) 

 Centaurs 

Centaurs are the rarest of all the Fairy species, and quite possibly the most unusual, barring the Dwarves. Their evolutionary history is totally unknown, and no one has a clue as to how a half humanoid, half horse species could have possibly come into existence. The prevailing theory is some form of magical merger spell created many thousands of years ago, to help them travel more effectively while still retaining their ability to use hands and other such conveniences. There are no records of such a thing, which is unusual due to the Centaurs’ reputation for recording everything in their history. 

Biology

All biology is listed above in the diagram. ^^ 

Note: Centaurs also have larger than usual brains; and, unlike horses, they are omnivorous. 

Culture

Centaurs are known for the pursuit of knowledge, with many of the Fairy people’s best thinkers throughout history being Centaurs. They also kept extensive documentation of events as time went by, a function that is greatly appreciated by modern historians. 

Centaur culture places teachers on a high pedestal, due to their role in passing down knowledge, and some even taught humans that had been deemed worthy, something that has been remembered in the myths of Ancient Greece. They used to have a hunting culture, able to keep a steady hand on a bow even when galloping at full pace, a skill that translated well to the battlefield. They preferred long weapons in melee combat, like halberds and spears, and their armour was so well designed that it was sought after by all who had heard of it. These old designs are quite similar to modern LEP armour.

Population woes:

Centaurs are the lowest numbered of all Fairy species, unfortunately. They never were very populous to start with, but living underground without much room to live in has made children difficult. The Council is looking into tax breaks for Centaur parents, in order to try and boost the population.

Notable individuals:

The most well known of all modern Centaurs is most likely to be Foaly, the LEP’s resident brainiac and multi-disciplinary scientist. He is responsible for a surprisingly large amount of advancements in technology and the sciences. He is noted to be overly paranoid, resulting in his constant development of tech designed specifically for hiding from Humans. He has calmed down a bit over recent years, in no small part thanks to his wife, Caballine. 

Caballine is a journalist and sculptor by trade, with a sharp wit, a sharper tongue, and an even sharper figure. She is a practitioner of the martial art of Nine Sticks, which is unique to Centaurs and involves using all six limbs, the head, the tail, and a staff to cover all possible angles in a fight. This technique is descended from the battle tactics of the old Centaur warriors, and it is designed for taking on multiple opponents at once.

Hey, so thank you all for following Faireply. This blog is still active, but seeing as exams are happening currently, posting may not be very frequent. We are in the middle of writing the 'goblins' article, and that should be posted fairly soon, but no guarantee. Other articles we have planned are 'Atlantis' 'Fowl Manor' 'the LEP' and several character profiles for protagonists such as Holly Short and Artemis Fowl himself.
