You died never knowing my secret. You terrorized me my whole life. I never let you know it, though. I really tried. I had to... I had to keep you in the... in the deep recesses of my mind so that I could keep going, and I did. I did. All those years I kept you in the dark, you were grasping at me and just scrambling to get a... a little piece of my soul that you could call your own, but you never got it. No, you never got it. Well, here you are. And here I am. I'm still standing. I made it. You want to know the kicker, Faison? There is a child out there... Our child.
faison replied to your post: at what age did Damen lose his virginity?
I remember a reference to Damen having sex with slaves at 13. But it’s not in the books, so it must have been one of Pacat’s LJ headcanons.
Yeah, I had a similar memory though I was thinking fourteen. But yes, I can’t find it in the books either; I think we’re thinking of something she said on LJ at some point.
Unless we consider this evidence:
He felt nervous suddenly, green, as he hadn’t felt since he was thirteen— uncertain of what lay on the other side of this moment, and wanting to be worthy of it.
My friend T. W. Faison has released his first published novel, and if you like supernatural horror, or historical fiction you’re going to be interested in this. The story takes place in France in the 15th century after Joan of Arc was killed by the Catholic Church. In the history books it says that Joan’s companion Baron Gilles de Rais sought to summon a demon to get back at the Catholic Church for killing a woman most of France saw as incredibly pious and to alleviate the financial burden of the crusades and persecution he received from the Catholic Church. What ensued afterwards was so horrid that the Church tried to erase Gilles from history entirely.
T. W. Faison’s book is written with the premise that Gilles was successful in summoning an actual demon for the purpose of avenging the wrongful death of Joan of Arc. In the novel Faison explores the idea of how much humanity can contort itself in the pursuit of what a person wants, and that there is an immense darkness in the world because of the failings of humanity. However, when there is darkness there must always be light - no matter how small.
The book is currently available on Amazon for your Kindle for $0.99 or in a paperback format printed by Amazon for $9.00. You can buy them here: [link to ebook] [link to paperback]

faison replied to your post “There are unreliable narrators, and then there’s Damen.”
The peace emissaries Pascal referred to were sent before Aleron brought his army to Marlas. The Regent got involved when Aleron and his army arrived at Marlas. He convinced Aleron to leave the fort and launch a surprise attack, knowing that would be his best chance to have Aleron killed. There is some massively sloppy editing in KR, however, which has Auguste dying before Aleron, when it was previously stated that he was killed after Aleron.
Oh dear. I can’t keep everything straight. Has someone already made a giant timeline of events or do we need to start one?
