Even the animals of the world understand this, as simple as they are—scavenging, nesting, exploring their territory...]

[And yet, animals know the line between curiosity and folly. They know, of course, that foolishness will lead to their doom. They know when to turn and run in the face of danger. Humanity doesn't seem to share this sensibility. It allows them to progress far beyond what animals are capable of, but it's also their downfall. This dichotomy creates in me a dichotomy of my own—fascinated and deeply, deeply frustrated.]
