I was going to draw or color something from Sinbad no Bouken but then my computer crashed so I decided I was going to wright something instead, so I decided that why not wright something based off that snide comment Arba made to Falan about the last time she saw her she was small.
A fanfic about young Falan for @miss18d‘s Magiweek, fic is under the cut
Falan hated her new body, how small it was in comparison to the one she controlled in Alma-Torran. But she also understood that this was needed if she wanted to survive in this world, Arba and Ithnan had already made their bodies or found someone to possess. So she knew that she couldn’t be left behind, she couldn’t fall behind the two of them. So here she was, with the body of a small child. Born to a poor family in a border town in the country of Parthevia, she knew she couldn’t keep up the act of their happy go lucky child much longer. She knew that she would have to run away and meet up with the rest of Al-Thamen, first she would contact Arba, who was inhabiting the body of the woman named Gyouken.
She continued to stare out the window of their small house, the were poor yes but she would find the nicest clothes they owned and take the money these people who she’d been forced to call her ‘parents’ for the last three months had. Falan felt nothing towards them, she didn’t care for these two random people. All she wanted to was find Al-Thamen and make the dark spot, find someone who would be capable of creating the ability to bring down their father Ill-Illah. She’d been sitting there, watching the sky dim and the day change to evening for over an hour.
“Laleh darling, are you alright?” the woman whom had birthed Falan’s host body asked, she was nice enough, not that Falan really cared. The mage had managed to secure a body that appeared similar to her old one in Alma-Torran, and that’s all she really cared for.
“Yes Ma’ma, I’m okay!” Falan chirped, hiding the vile and disgust from her voice. One thing she really hated about this was that her voice was too high pitched. A part of her was always worried that the mother of her host would catch on, luckily the mother hadn’t caught on quite yet. But if she had to pretend to keep this up any longer she knew that she’d snap and end up outing herself to the mother and causing chaos that she didn’t want.
The mother smiled down at her, and Falan forced herself to smile back. She knew her leaving would crush the mother, but she didn’t have time to worry about this woman. She had to destroy destiny and fate, she had to go and reunite with Al-Thamen. She couldn’t distract herself any longer with this woman, she would have to make it seem like she was taken by slave traders or such. The older woman placed down a bowl of plain food in front of Falan, sitting down across from her and starting to eat. Falan did the same, the two of them usually eat in utter silence. Having not a thing to talk about, so their dinners were almost always spent like this.
After dinner the sun set, the two of them usually slipped into bed to sleep. To wake the next morning and repeat the day prior, over and over again. Week after week, month after month of doing the same thing. Of pretending to be a child, pretending to be this woman’s child. This happy mother who was living fine, who didn’t have to see her child die right in front of her. Falan envied this lucky woman, who had a husband that would go and trade for the caravan but would return every month.
Falan continued to live this lie, this fake life with this woman who wasn’t even her mother. She continued to pretend to know and care for this woman for a week, planning in secret and making all of the preparations that she needed. Tonight was the night that she was going to leave, set off and reunite with Al-Thamen. She’d been using magic to communicate with Ithnan through letters for the past week, so she had a meeting point. He would be the key to getting into Al-Thamen and making sure she secured herself and found a dark spot for herself. That was her job, she had to find someone who was capable of bringing down their father, Ill-Illah.
And on that warm summer night, she gathered up all of the things she had gathered. Making sure everything was in place for her escape, leaving the note on the door of their little cottage. The fake note that stated that the mothers daughter had been taken into slavery, the note was a lie. But, Falan needed an alibi, needed to make sure that this plan would work out right. So once she had pinned the note with the blade of a knife she set off, all of her things in the biggest backpack her tiny body could carry. Inside held her nicest clothes, all the money that her mother owned, and food for her travels.
Falan then spent the next three weeks wandering throughout the country of Parthevia, trying her hardest to avoid people who would suspect anything of a supposed six year old wandering around by herself. Avoiding both the Reim and Parthevian military, not wanting to get caught up in a war that meant nothing to her. She didn’t want to risk putting her new body in harm or in any situation that would kill it, not wanting to feel the pain of death again.
After the long treck Falan finally reached her destination, one of Al-Thamen’s strongholds that disguised itself as a weapons dealer. Falan opened the hefty wooden door, closing it behind her with a thud. Looking around she walked up to the man at the front desk, seeing how the ruhk around him fluttered black, much like her own. She wasn’t the only to have noticed this, as he did the same for her. His eyes opening in curiousity. “ah, what brings you here little girl”, he asked, his voice deep and rough.
“I am here to meet the owner of this store, I even have this”, even if she had the body of a child Falan spoke with an air of authority as she placed the letter from Ithnan that would allow her access to see the others. The man took the letter, humming as he opened it up.
“Come this way Miss, let’s get you a staff” he said as he stood up from his seat, gesturing for Falan to follow him into the back of the store. And so she did, staying not too far behind him as the two of them walked through a door and down into the basement of the store. The undergrounds were much larger in comparison to what the outside would let on. “What is your name Miss, I can only give you mine if you give me yours in return”, he spoke.
Falan’s dull expression altered into an ever so slight smile, seeing as the man had now changed from treating her as if she was a child to referring to her as an equal. It gave her some kind of strange satisfaction. “I am Falan, I was recommended this stronghold by Ithnan himself” she responded, the tone in her voice not wavering at all.
The man’s reaction to who she was left Falan conflicted, he bowed to her and spoke about how Ithnan had spoken of her and how she was on the same level as him as Arba, although he spoke of her as Gyouken. He then gave his name and stood up, apologizing for speaking out of line earlier. As he had not known that she was so important to the organization, she was from Alma-Torran itself, she was one of the founding members of Al-Thamen. Part of her old self bubbled up, wanting to be bashful towards it, but her cold demeanor stayed.
She brushed it off, saying how it wasn’t important and that it was to be expected with her current body. The man nodded, standing back up, then proceeded to lead her into one of the rooms. Inside said rooms where many staffs, ranging in design and size. “Choose anyone you’d like Miss Falan”, offered the man after shortly explaining that the organization had made all of these themselves.
She stepped in, looking around and over the different staffs in the room before choosing one that she liked. It was taller than her, like all of the others in the room. It had a feathered look to it, it’s design was fancy and it shined gold. It had rings around the hilt and the think metal rod felt sturdy in her tiny hands. “I’ve made my choice, this will be my staff”, Falan announced as she turned towards the man. He nodded at her choice, before leading her out of the room. Explaining how they would find clothes for her later, as they had nothing currently that would fit her.
She nodded as she looked down at her current clothes, they were the nicest one’s that she currently had. She looked up as the man had announced that he’d be leading her to where Ithnan and Arba, who he called Gyouken, would be waiting to meet up with her. She nodded, following him as they approached a large metal door, the man bowed and left her standing in front of it.
Falan walked up to the door, turning the handle and pushing it open with all the might her tiny body could muster. Without a second thought she stepped into the room, staff gripped tightly in her tiny hands.
