It’s the product of feeling a variety of freaky emotions over the past couple of years – grief, heartbreak, hope, helplessness, jealousy, excitement, confusion – you name it, it’s in there. It’s inspired by the complicated ties that I have with my family, the passing of an extraordinary friend, the love I feel for my partner, the person I used to be, the person I have become. The album is diverse, as life tends to be, yet there is a common thread that holds it all together – an honest depiction of my truest feelings.

Feelin’ Freaky is fuelled by emotionally raw lyrics, but the influence of my incredible collaborators in Falcon Jane has turned sad songs into true plez rock. The chill vibes, righteous riffs, and groovy grooves are the result of five best friends hanging out and allowing each other to take risks and be vulnerable. I’m so grateful for that.

This soft, dreamy track will have your mind and ears floating into a different dimension. Front-woman Sara May has this gorgeous lull on her vocals that comforts you even on the coldest and windiest days. “Go With The Flow” sounds like its title, an easy-going dreamy bedroom pop track that’ll you ease you into your day.

Falcon Jane shares new single ‘Feelings’

Ontario-based project Falcon Jane, led by lead singer and songwriter Sara May, are sharing ‘Feelings’, the final pre-release track to be lifted from their forthcoming album, Faith, which is out this Friday, November 13, via Darling Recordings. ‘Feelings’, which features heart-wrenching guitar work from Branson Giles, arrives a song love song written about rediscovering love that you thought had disappeared. "A rekindling, a reawakening," explains May. "It's about letting go of the past in order to pursue a new future. Establishing a new belief system and a new way to express love."

Once again featuring May's celestial vocals that are this time laced around jaunty, blues-infused guitars, ‘Feelings’ offers up a real highlight from the forthcoming record, establishing itself as another crucial segment to the emotional core of Faith.

Falcon Jane shares new single ‘Held High’

Ontario-based project Falcon Jane, led by lead singer and songwriter Sara May, are sharing their soaring new cut, ‘Held High’. The new single comes as the latest in a run of tracks to be lifted from her forthcoming record, Faith which is set for release via Pittsburgh-based label, Darling Recordings on November 13. This new single, recorded at a friend's jam space on an eight-track recorder, follows on from where ‘Heaven’ left off, once again detailing May's glistening vocals whilst draping these over warm-hued synths and glowing guitars. Thematically the track explores the universally-understood idea of wanting something that feels just out of reach, drawing inspiration from the battle between holding out hope and deciding to give up. It somewhat resembles the recording narrative for the track too as, before it reached its finished format, there were many back forths and different iterations that were tinkered with. "When I wrote the song I was reaching a breaking point," explains May. "I had been chasing something for so long and was so exhausted and hopeless that I felt like I couldn't go on anymore. But it is very much a back and forth, a trial and error. I think the repetitiveness of the E major chord to F# minor chord really emphasizes that feeling of triumph then failure then triumph again."

Orangeville, Canada -- Take a listen to Sara May’s newest track “The News” from upcoming album Feelin’ Freaky. This dreamy indie pop track is just under 3 minutes long but packs a lot of soft, glittery sounds to soothe the soul. The overall tone of the song is very mellow but there’s definitely a nice swing to the track. “The News” is perfect with any morning cup of coffee or tea, especially watching the sun rise.

SONG PICK: Falcon Jane - Go With The Flow (Video)

Canadian band Falcon Jane presents the perfect sonic and visual representation of the idea to “Go With The Flow”. This is what they call “Plez rock” and it is impossible to listen to the track without feeling a little more relaxed. This is exactly what singer Sarah May had in mind with the song, as she explains:

Go With The Flow is the ultimate chill out song for freaky, anxious, over-thinkers like me. This is my fave Falcon Jane song right now, so I wanted the video to feel very personal to me. I directed, produced and edited the video (got my BFF Deviio to shoot it) and it’s basically about me chillin’ in my small town doing things that relax me and make me feel cool.

Presumably there will be more of this on their upcoming album “Feelin’ Freaky”, which is set for release this summer.
