Falcon Jane shares new single ‘Held High’

Ontario-based project Falcon Jane, led by lead singer and songwriter Sara May, are sharing their soaring new cut, ‘Held High’. The new single comes as the latest in a run of tracks to be lifted from her forthcoming record, Faith which is set for release via Pittsburgh-based label, Darling Recordings on November 13. This new single, recorded at a friend's jam space on an eight-track recorder, follows on from where ‘Heaven’ left off, once again detailing May's glistening vocals whilst draping these over warm-hued synths and glowing guitars. Thematically the track explores the universally-understood idea of wanting something that feels just out of reach, drawing inspiration from the battle between holding out hope and deciding to give up. It somewhat resembles the recording narrative for the track too as, before it reached its finished format, there were many back forths and different iterations that were tinkered with. "When I wrote the song I was reaching a breaking point," explains May. "I had been chasing something for so long and was so exhausted and hopeless that I felt like I couldn't go on anymore. But it is very much a back and forth, a trial and error. I think the repetitiveness of the E major chord to F# minor chord really emphasizes that feeling of triumph then failure then triumph again."

     Hc: Throughout his childhood years, Hitsugaya had to endure several obstacles of the emotional variety. He dealt with the loneliness of living in Rukongai; where all of its citizens hated / feared him for being one who pertained dissimilar traits. He had to deal with Hinamori’s parting of the village in order to pursuit her dreams in becoming a shinigami - Her moving on with her life without him - It accumulated more loneliness, sadness, and even a hint of jealousy to engross him. In furtherance to that, he was forced to witness his grandmother as she was getting thinner and thinner as month’s passes by, and had to accept the fact that it was of his doing. Ergo had he make the decision to become a shinigami himself and leave his grandmother to live on her own. The alternative would consist of him killing her in order for him to not be alone. 

    In his Academic years, he had befriended a man known as Kusaka Sojiro. He was content to have made a friend. But with a twisted ending in fate. They had both obtained  twin zanpaku-to and thus forced to brawl. One’s destiny had inevitably ended on that day.Toshiro was put in the position of helplessly watching his friend die in his arms due to a law he has yet to fully comprehend. Years after that, he became the third seat of the juubantai, in which he had to overcome not only the abandonment of Isshin but also the death of Kaien Shiba.

 Even as a full - fledge shinigami and as a Taichou he still has to deal with others constantly underestimating him and talking down to him as though he was genuinely just a mere child. Aizen fooled him, twisted him to the extent in which resulted to him nearly killing Hinamori.These occurrences have made him very easy to annoy or irritate and has forced him to close himself off from others. He became cynical and disdainful, likely having lost his faith in most people long ago because of the obstacles he had, and still has, to tolerate each and every day.

It is crazy to me that I spent 4 years putting every ounce of blood and sweat, every thought and effort, and every last penny I had into getting people to notice my band, to only reach a couple thousand people, but I can snap a few quick pictures of my sister's puppy eating watermelon, throw it on here, and it gets 150,000+ notes almost instantly…

Recuperate

I worried whenever things are getting worst. I might succumb to death if things are getting worst every day. I might kill my damn existence. And I presume that unexpected things might happen if I will over ponder,if I will not push myself to think positive thoughts. So I decided to ponder of better ways to grab every opportunity whenever happiness and satisfaction is on my way. Then I back track the memories when I recuperate from a severe experience, when I raise my hand and say "YES", when I was overwhelmed ,when I was a kid and all I wanna do is play all day, when I fall in love and moved on, when I graduated from not-my-passion course, and when I realized I still wake up every morning and hear my breathing. The moment when I realized all those stuffs are ways of bringing full packed encouragements and optimisms within me. Like I could fully held my head high again and say the f-word into the world's face.
