Toshiro's nightmare is sooo interesting to think about.
I think it might have happened before Marcille joined their party, otherwise Marcoulle would probably have already known about nightmares already I feel- she doesn't seem to be familiar with them at the end of chapter, but who knows.
Like what would it be about? My first instinct is to say it for sure has something to do with his father. His beef and sentiment of inferiority with him is even the main point Kui highlights on his adventurer’s bible profile, it’s at the center of a lot of his issues….. Maybe he fails at something in his dream or everyone tells him he sucks or such… Kinda like Laios parallels! Ohhh ohh you're letting the family down Toshiro!! Orrr, people die when he was supposed to protect them I could see too— maybe even something to do with the heirdom.
But my favorite? If his nightmare was only a slightly harsher version of his daily life at home. Just him going along doing his routine, training, meeting with his father for extra stress, eating alone a meal that tastes bland, all while Maizuru and others nitpick at all of his little imperfections in his demeanor and choices and acts. Constantly being criticized on every little thing he does wrong... Hold your chopsticks more neatly young master, walk straighter and don’t stare young master, land that blow more cleanly young master, you have to go meet with your father young master. Never taking too long of a break because he still remembers the time one of Maizuru's spirits chased him with a knife.
Living your nightmare... Nightmare that’s just blasé routine you constantly go through, so even though it’s your most hated most dreaded most feared situation you just act as if everything’s normal because to you it is, it is your normal, and he doesn’t even let a crack show.
And like Falin getting to see what it was like for him back home would be so good too. Helping him through it and "Hey, this isn't real, come back to reality with us"...
I wonder if it happened before he fell for falin or after... I like to think it happened before. Maybe even early on near when Toshiro joined them, especially since he mostly stayed in the party for her... And listen I have a soft spot for Maizuru, but I do bet if she'd seen his nightmare she would have found ways to judge it whatever it was, maybe throuh coddling her precious baby boy a bit, but if it was the routine theory then I bet she'd would just have been like "yes, of course that's the correct way to raise him. what is nightmarish about this?" Cough cough, the HAG BABYSITTER SPIRIT!!
which is worse: a nightmare where an active enemy is aggressively threatening you, or what appears to be a perfectly normal daily life.
