Eastern screech-owl: Tiny hunter of the night
Try to spot the Eastern Screech-Owl his month. #BirdthePreserves #birding @FPDCC #Owls
In the middle of the night, an 8-inch bundle of feathers and hollow bones projects a haunting, mysterious sound. Though it sounds far away, the bird—an eastern screech-owl—could likely be right above your head (that is, if you are out in the middle of the woods at night). Young eastern screech-owl Photo ©…

Beachy Keen
Believe it or not, the beaches of southwest Michigan do not fly south after Labor Day. To wit:
The New Buffalo Public Beach at the mouth of the Galien River is a great place to watch for loons, grebes, ducks, gulls, and terns this time of year.
Silver Beach County Park in Saint Joseph is a great place for fall weddings and/or fall birding and swinging.
