Stand By You - Rachel Platten (ASL Cover)
This is Maxine’s anthem song for one reason - it reminds her of her sister. Even though her sister is (presumed) dead, her entire being is still dedicated to Marley; finding out who her killer is and killing them. Max will walk through hell to make things right again.
Grease Lightning - Grease
This was always her father’s favourite song to play in his shop, and when Maxine was there, he always turned it up extra loud; to this day, Max knows every word of it by heart and even the dance to it. Not that she’d admit that, and she still hasn’t seen the movie - but this song always brings back memories of her and her siblings in her father’s car shop, singing and dancing along.
As ridiculous as the song is, it fits Max and her best friend perfectly. Not only did they get drunk and sing the duet for karaoke - more than once - neither of them are exactly fit for relationships. It’s a fun song for a fun pair.
Love Myself - Hailee Steinfeld
Maxine doesn’t do relationships - they’re clingy restraints that require expectations and loyalty. But as far as Maxine’s concerned, her loyalty belongs to her family, and to whomever her next charge to protect as a hunter is. This song stands as a middle finger to anyone she’s slept with that gets pissed on her for not attaching strings. She's one hundred percent happy loving herself, and in no way needs approval from another.
Little Bitty Pretty One - Thurston Harris
Maxine fell in love with this song as a child, the first time she saw the movie Matilda. She went on to later name her bumblebee morph ball python Matilda, as well. This song plays as her alarm every morning, and she couldn’t think of a better way to wake up.
