History:

Lotor Ribeiro was born in São Paulo, Brazil to Honerva and Zarkon Ribeiro. He is of mixed heritage with his father being a white Brazilian man and his mother of the North American Ho-Chunk nation. The boy mostly takes after his mother in appearance with a skin tone slightly darker than hers but the same face shape and silky black hair.

Honerva died in childbirth as far as he knows as that’s what his father told him. Whether that is true or not, something changed in the man as his son grew. He became angry and often violent. Nothing his son did was ever good enough in Zarkon’s eyes. The abuse has been rough on Lotor who has dealt with it all his life. The once sweet little boy became a bitter tween who hid any and all relationships from his father (especially after a drunken rampage from Zarkon caused his first serious girlfriend to leave him.)

Lotor eventually ran away from home, pleading for his mother’s tribe to get him out of Brazil so his father couldn’t find him. It took a couple years being homeless in Rio before a member of the tribe came to take him to his new home in America. Now a teenager, he hopes to have a better life and finally have the life he always wanted.

Details:

Lotor is pansexual with a slight preference for men and doesn’t mind being top or bottom in a relationship.

He is quite androgynous considering his slim build, long bleached white hair, and more feminine facial features. This gets him some flak from the more homophobic passers by but he honestly doesn’t care.

He has a habit of dressing however he wants whether he’s in ripped skinny jeans and a baggy T-shirt or fishnets and a crop top. Boy can rock a miniskirt if he wants to and beat your ass while he’s doing it.

Lotor is not against wearing makeup if he feels like it though usually it’s just basics (mascara, eyeliner, maybe some lipstick if he likes the shade.)

There will be moments where he steals his SO’s clothes so long as they’re his size or larger. He likes to have things that smell like them because he’s a fucking sap.

I've been wanting to refine my artstyle so I thought for chapter 3 would be the perfect time to! I want to keep to the character design more rigidly (aka, keep to the more simpler/larger shapes) and the shading is more baked-into the flats. notice the inner lineart has the colored lines now! yaya!

I think one of the nost frustrating things about Lotor with the way I portray him is just.. his lack of true sympathy in some cases. He understands he’s done horrible things but he just can’t seem to grasp how truly monstrous they are.

He gets that the things he did to the Alteans were horrifying and deserved the way the Paladins treated him in the end. He knows every choice he made after his exile was out of a desire for retribution.

But he just can’t grasp it in his mind that he truly did become like his father in the end. Allura compared him to his father and all that rage and hatred in his heart for the man that abused him - culled an entire planet to torment him - caused him to snap entirely. And then the quintessence field made it worse.

Lotor won’t set foot on Altea nor will he contact anyone there. After all he did to the Alteans from the colony and to Allura he feels it’s not a place for him. It may cause issues with communication by having others relay messages for him and going in his stead but he just.. can’t go there.

He feels it disgraces her memory.
