One thing I seem to keep learning is that what I envision, or what I am hoping for, shapes my expectations for almost every situation. And as such, it sets the stage for comparison and judgement. Due to my ability to imagine almost everything better than actuality, this mostly results in negativity. Even when you share an amazing moment, a fantastic day, or capture a great photo it falls short of the unreachably high standard set in my mind. So I strive to think more openly, allowing for the unexpected to happen. Welcoming a change in plans, stopping somewhere other than intended. Letting others take the lead, preparing for the unknown rather than worrying about it.
