Maybe I am throwing shade, maybe but I genuinely don’t understand the Ghoul x Lucy ship ;-; like yes ship whatever you like and want but the amount of fanfiction when those characters are not coded to have… even a ounce of likeness to each other is kinda… odd. I am not saying it in a way of “ew the age gap” but in a way that… that they don’t even have a look, don’t even have a friendship and not a scene where they laugh/get along with each other. It’s straight up distrust and necessity to be around each other.
Especially when it’s clearly stated that Lucy likes Maximus and that the Ghoul still loves/has feelings for his wife. I did try to read some and all I found was… like a bad interpretation of Lucy’s character, always playing on her naivety and the Ghoul who is the big bad guy “look at me I am so dark Barb is evil she abused me” (I did read a fanfic where Barb gets abusive and I was like… it’s the USA y’all???)
Kinda weird too they ship the two “white” characters together when they have clearly and explicitly black love interests. We have clearly seen those characters care for others. So why the ship exists and make it scene like they never had someone to love? I don’t want to dwell on that much myself, others had done it and spoke about it well, and it’s not my place as a ghost girl. But I do see and I don’t like it.
And it’s going to sound VERY mean and I am entitled to my opinion but… sometimes, I do really believe some fans are very… delusional about the relationship between Lucy and the Ghoul like they honestly believe it’s going to be endgame when it’s clearly shown by x, y, z that The Ghoul is looking v for his family (his WIFE and daughter) and that Lucy will likely reunite with Maximus… like… even with the amount of fanfictions there is and edits, it’s clearly not the direction the show is getting.
So maybe I am a hater. Yeah. But I just wanted to express my opinions. I am open to discussion obviously.
