Food for thought: False Lives
What does it mean to live a false life?
The word “false” is defined as being incorrect or insincere. The best way I can explain living falsely is one who lives life just to exist, rather than to truly live. You might be thinking what’s the difference? The difference is that life, by definition, means to simply exist; to breathe in and then out again. To truly live though, means to exist in a life that is fulfilling and meaningful. Existing is like being a robot, a robot that obeys and goes through the motions of life. To truly live is to take advantage of life’s opportunities. These opportunities could end up being positive or negative, but either way there is an opportunity to grow. Living falsely is to not take advantage of the “ups and downs”; life IS the “ups and downs”. Living falsely is choosing to remain stuck in the proverbial box.
I’ve lived a false life and I know that up until just recently I’ve put value, emphasis on the unimportant, trivial aspects of life because I believed that’s what I was supposed to do. I had an opportunity to learn new things in a way that was unique compared to others. I didn’t take advantage of this opportunity because I was scared to go against the norm, so I didn’t. I regret that decision because I wonder where I would be now and what doors might have opened for me; I got stuck in the box.
So if you look in the mirror one day and see a robot, don’t be afraid to go against the status quo. Follow your heart and passions, and use this time on Earth to change your life. You may think you have plenty of time, but the truth is nothing is guaranteed. Again, use this time to live a fulfilled life with no regrets.
