FAN VENT about MIDPOLLO

I want my Eclipse back and happy

This is about how DC is treating #Midpollo lately. I will put related links to things (scenes from comics, spoilers) and other vents of mine with images; and subtitles for order. Advertence: LOT OF TEXT. I'm angry and anxious. Sorry for the English mistakes, not my mother language.

. I FEAR WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN

And more, I have the fear I know what's gonna happen. I mean, you already saw how they just disappeared Apollo for some chapters (or didn't show us WTF was happening with him). That's the trope "Out of Focus". And that's not a good signal. I fear... we will have Midnighter and Apollo separated. UNJUSTLY separated. AGAIN. And with that, DC having the perfect excuse to write them OUT of the story (the "Put on a bus" trope). I hope I'm mistaken, but... 🙃

. We have the historical record for me to fear what's gonna happen next: do you know how many times Apollo had deaths in comics until now? Yeah, sorry for the cruel realization if you didn't know. And for worst, the number is slowly approaching the two digits. Do you think on any other character that DC seems to LOVE killing it again and again because they think fans are used to it already? (or they are a piece of 💩 that enjoy it and don't know a new story to write without that). Yeah, Jason Todd. Red Hood. The second Robin in the story of Batman. One of the first victims of the now called "Bucky clause", accompanied by Aunt Ben. So, how could I don't think of the possibility of OTHER characters falling into this d4mn karma? . I don't think DC has that right, not even when Apollo is called that, Apollo. And you know: greek mythology = tragedy. But, WHY THE F*CK don't we have the RIGHT to see a gay character be happy?? WHY CAN'T WE SEE A GAY couple BE HAPPY TOGETHER???? ANSWER ME THAT. So much "queer coding" DC says to have, pieces of 💩, yeah, only to earn money. But you always remember the "bury your gays" for the drama..

APOLLO DESERVES MORE

I fear for Apollo because Midnighter is always the main point here so he has fewer possibilities of being in a problem. Sorry Lulu, but there is no balance. Apollo deserves more but DC still ignores Apollo as much as Wildstorm always did. I thought DC would do best for him, BUT NO, and that makes me angry. . And it's always like Apollo is used like a f*cking plot device, the same karma that a lot of female characters have to live. How surprising, because DC is writing him to be better known as "Midnighter's partner" than "Apollo" itself, with the stereotypical "female character/perfect spouse" traits. And I also don't like that. Apollo needs an independent life, too. We have enough female characters fighting for a place to have ALSO a gay male character suffering the same sh*t because of that idea that in a gay couple there is always a "female" part and "male" part. Heteronormative and binary sh*t. I despise that thing of stereotypes, don't agree with any of that. I don't mean these characteristics are "bad" for a man (when they are just, characteristics). The point is Apollo doesn't exist to be Midnighter's trophy and we need to see more of him being UNIQUE. . Do you know Apollo could have had a solo series? But it never happened 😭

YOU DON'T FEEL THE LOVE

DC just continues taking things from us, Midpollo fans that started to love them by their original comics (The Authority, StormWatch from WildStorm, etc). DC keeps ruining it. We lately don't have kisses. We don't have the caresses, touches, or hugs. NOT EVEN the physical nearness. We don't have lovely words from one to the other. They don't even act as if they love each other. It's funny how they had more chemistry in the chaos of the ORIGINAL AUTHORITY than here.

. And that said, this isn't the Authority we remember and liked. I like Superman but I feel DC just did something stupid by making him "leader" of a bad "Authority" imitation team. I don't feel the nostalgia and I don't feel happy about that. Superman itself takes all the focus on himself 🙄 and the Authority was great because you felt how EVERY MEMBER was relevant. Not the "leader" alone. . But let's return to the point! It's IRONIC we are supposed to be in a generation where we could celebrate diversity in fiction without censorship or fear. BUT DC is making us get Midpollo's love WITH A DROPPER. And them being a gay couple DOESN'T MEAN they only could express themselves freely in a pride comic. I FEEL LIKE DC DOES THAT. They only put Midpollo being genuinely in love in these comics, but in comics where they aren't main characters, bye-bye. (And even, in Midnighter comic and Midnighter and Apollo comic you feel something is lacking). . Hypocrisy, because if they were a straight couple, and even more, of the main character (for example, Batman and Catwoman) sure, "let's ALSO show clearly they have s3x there and here because straight couples are always acceptable". But if they are not straight DC is like "LET'S CENSOR Apollo's butt, so ph0bics doesn't feel uncomfortable!" (??????). Yeah, this happened, and so recently you can't just believe it. (And look at this time DC censored a kiss. And the audacity of them with the "old friend" phrase. Ugh)

Midpollo in current comics say they love each other but you don't feel anything. DC goes like "let's put them saying it" to fulfill an objective. And nothing more. You don't feel it, you don't sense it.

COMPARISONS

And that shit of comparing them. I mean, now Midnighter is not only compared with Batman, ALSO SUPERMAN. WTF? Because sure, OF COURSE, let's not forget WHO ARE THE STARS here. They will never let Apollo have more importance than Superman (for example). Yes, Superman is the main character of the comic but that doesn't mean you have to nerf and make a character be so OOC to "protect your symbol". Ugh. I like Superman but all of this makes me angry. . And APOLLO IS UNIQUE. Here they started making him act just as a Superman fanboy that said that he "always wanted to be like him". They keep making us believe they will develop Apollo's past AT LAST, but NO, HAHAHA, no. They keep making him only say things, not show them. You feel nothing. And they only keep comparing them. The same 💩 as the people outside the fandom that doesn't know anything about Midpollo and only see them as the "canon Superbat" or the couple that's the excuse to say to Superbat fans they don't have the right to dream with Superbat being canon (and that is also disgusting; let Superbat shippers BE). .

I'm happy Midpollo is part of the ONLY original The Authority members that still SURVIVE the DCU migration, but I can't feel completely happy at the same time (I miss WildStorm's The Authority). I feel DC still treat them so unjustly, DC remember them only for pride, use them for drama factor, or to be the characters that bother the main ones 😒🙄 or as a filler.

I-DON'T-F*CKING-CARE

DC had already k1lled Midpollo to only avoid writing them, as it happened in The New 52: Futures End Vol 1 #1 (2014) comic. Because The Authority would have ended all the problems in a blink, so they were another "problem" 😒 . But Wildstorm demonstrated in a crisis Midpollo can have their love STRONGER than ever. Yeah, I speak of The Authority Volume 4. And you say they have the right to continue ruining Midpollo only because there comes a crisis? No. It's because they don't want them shinning more than Superman or Batman 🤬 or any other character created originally by DC. . They don't respect Midpollo. You maybe saw how they JUST started being a couple in StormWatch's modern run... and next, from one moment to another, Midnighter comic BROKE THE COUPLE UP with a completely stupid and ridiculous excuse (where they changed Apollo's personality to make him disagree with Midnighter every time). .

THIS IS NOT THE SAME APOLLO WE KNEW

I don't care if they have the right to retcon Midpollo. I'm hating the changes they are doing on them. And because the changes don't make sense with the Midpollo they presented in Stormwatch modern run, where Midnighter fell for Apollo because Apollo could be cruel to evil people. THAT'S HOW APOLLO ALWAYS WAS until DC decided that stupid change of making him more a copy of the supermen, all like "we don't k1ll" and "Midnighter, don't kill, we are better than this". Wtf? DC, did you even read The Authority original comics? Are you so cowardly now about the "kill or don't kill" dilemma even when you continuously torture your own characters and go all proud of being recognized by your supposed "obscure" stories? . The Apollo I love was capable of incinerating a man's test1cles to make him speak 👿 -yeah, this is real, happened in the Wildstorm era and Midnighter always LOVED 😏 these moments of the savage Apollo raising- They were aggressive with who deserved it, without ruining what they sought, and without losing the focus of what they wanted to be (more than Bendix's created human weapons). They were made for a thing, and they transformed it to be better. I also miss the real origin of Midpollo and how DC ruined the opportunity of developing more from it.

(And, also Bendix is being a victim of DC retcons. New readers that never read The Authority will never know how a piece of 💩 he really was. Now he seems a joke. I miss hating him).

It's ironic and indignant how the fandom is making better content for Midpollo (with fanfics/fanart/fan comics) than the own official comic industry lately. And how THEY SEEM TO KEEP IGNORING US, THE OWN MIDPOLLO FANDOM, from WHAT WE WANT. Is like we don't exist. I feel that, I don't know if you too. I hope I'm not alone in this.

And I'm not gonna stay shut, as you see.

No entiendo qué necesidad tenía Marvel de cambiarle el nombre a Marlene en el UCM. En serio. MARLENE es un personaje importante.

⚠⚠ CUIDADO SPOILERS INDIRECTOS de cómics ⚠⚠

También voy a estar disgustada si la quieren poner de antagónica, ignorando todo cuanto Marlene acompañó de manera bella a Marc en muchos cómics vintage... hasta que ciertos autores decidieron arruinar todo para luego culminar al romper la pareja. Porque en los cómics no pueden ver una pareja ser feliz y estable por mucho tiempo. Parece que se les quemaran los ojos y cayeran las manos si llegan a hacer eso ¬¬ No digo que fueran la mejor pareja. Había muchas estupideces de época, toxicidades del amor romántico, capacitismo, lo suyo. Pero ellos en serio se me hacían una pareja bonita en sus momentos (sobre todo antes de los 90' más o menos), y Marlene era bien fuertota luchando lado a lado con Marc y eso me agradaba de todo su significado como personaje femenino... aunque en lo actual ya la DESAPARECIERON y no perdono a Marvel por hacer eso (que también lo hizo con TODOS los secundarios de Luna desde su origen) MARLENE ES MARLENE. Es el cambio de nombre lo que me choca

P.D. fuera de todas mis quejas, sí toy disfrutando la serie, no se crean. Pero tengo las cositas que criticarle. Ojalá y me calle la boca y Layla sí resulte llamarse Marlene Alraune al final, nunca se sabe jajaja

FAN VENT sobre SENTRY (El Vigía)

⚠⚠ CUIDADO, SPOILERS ⚠⚠

-Esto es exclusivamente personal, un VENT/DESAHOGO. Estoy siendo SUBJETIVA y de paso, no admitiré ningún ataque a este personaje sobre todo en este preciso post, que busca LO CONTRARIO. Si le sigues el jueguito a Marvel de odiar y despreciar a Sentry, con más que motivos, retírate de aquí y sigue tu camino.-

Oficialmente he terminado de leer todo lo "principal" de Sentry y nada más con decir que acabo de aprender la definición de la palabra vilipendio, ya debería ser suficiente para describir la caída increíble que esto tuvo.

El nivel de denigración a un personaje que vi en este viaje fue progresivamente insufrible. Y, esto último que leí es de 2021. Estamos casi a mitad de 2022, y tal vez es mejor que nadie ha vuelto a intentar escribir a Sentry, porque para escribirlo como un asco como venían haciendo, mejor no (hasta miedo da que regrese, aunque no significa que no lo anhele... UN RETCON rescate). Parece que Marvel solo va a recordar su existencia cuando quiera volver a HUMILLARLO de una forma repugnante y seguro no sea pronto, porque así de poco es cuanto le importa. Como muchos fans dicen, literalmente Marvel "no sabe qué hacer con él". Y lo más seguro es que al regresarlo, lo último que harán es escuchar lo que el fandom realmente quiere, porque si lo hubieran oído dudo que los últimos cómics que salieron fueran a existir. A la próxima vez que re-lea todo, en la agonía de la rabia que me va a producir, espero poder analizar muchas cosas y mostrar claramente cómo ha sido desperdiciado y denigrado a la etiqueta de "villano", para luego ser asesinado y que te pinten todo como una "redención" y "estado de paz"... donde nadie de sus supuestos amigos va a extrañarlo genuinamente. Porque él nunca ha sido el "villano": lo han sido todos a su alrededor haciéndole la vida una ruina, usándolo a su conveniencia, llevándolo al límite y hasta DESEÁNDOLE LA MUERTE. Nadie se puso realmente en sus zapatos aún cuando él tenía una lucha personal constante; siempre fue servicial (al punto de ser hasta manipulado), se SACRIFICÓ una y otra vez por el bien de gente que ni lo merecía, era el primero en preocuparse de no hacer daño por accidente, y muchas veces se culpó de cosas que ni siquiera eran su culpa y ni se rebeló contra personas que claramente estaban faltándole al respeto (siendo escrito como increíblemente ingenuo, cuando se supone tiene años de experiencia como héroe y ni sabemos su edad real). Lo último solo cambió cuando ciertos autores lo hicieron actuar irracionalmente violento para intentar que lo "odies". Pero si ya razonas lo suficiente y no te dejas llevar por el cuentito de Marvel, vas a darte cuenta que ese no es Sentry. Ya es un escritor usándolo de "más villano que el villano". Este personaje fue víctima de los que le rodean, y hasta de su propio creador. Y nunca, NUNCA nos dieron los motivos que lo llevaron al punto de cambiarse la vida al obtener sus poderes. Los trastornos mentales, "múltiples identidades", así como las adicciones y dificultades para relacionarse, no nacen porque "le pregunté a mis webos y me dijeron que sí". Y no nacen tampoco de que el personaje tenga alguna "naturaleza" supuesta, de "maldad porque sí". Esa es una asquerosa implicación cuerdista y estigmatizante hacia las personas que conviven con trastornos mentales reales. Este personaje pudo ser usado para dar mensajes de superación en una minoría de minorías, PERO NO. Por primera vez estoy en el fandom de uno de los superhéroes nivel cósmico más injustamente tratados y peor escritos de la historia de los cómics. Tmw you make your own version of transformers because the canon one sucks and the fans suck too.

Tbh i forgot how much i loved transformers. Im slowly getting back into it. It was because of fans that put me off of it for so long and made me hate it and call it quits. Also i just hated how they were handled in both canon and fanon. Like good god it was an eyesore. Worse than dealing with anime fans. Sad to say i expect that when dealing with anime fans. Like there is certain things i truly do love. But fans especially rabid fangirls and crusty ass dudes suck the joy and fun out of it so damn much to the point i hated doing anything with transformers. I stopped getting figures. I stopped drawing,writing,creating,and left fhe whole series. I wanna get back into it. But fans make it so hard. I hated the shipping,i hated the fridging of female characters,and the treatment they got in both canon and by fans. I hate how the transformers were written half the time. I had my own verse and people often shat on it and were assholes in my dms. I sometimes got mean mugs for me self shipping. And a lot of other crap. Especially the shipping crap. I hated the shipping. Even with one fan ship i was kinda ok with. The fans made me hate it because of the constant oversaturation of it. And how they only talked bout the romance or sexual parts of the relationship. Never about anything that actually fucking mattered. Like a real story or a fic idea. Or you know THE FUCKING DAMN CYBERTRONIAN WAR OR WARS!? like the point of transformers was giant alien robots dealing with the aftermaths of war and a corrupt system society. Coming to our planet because theirs is pretty much dead beyond repair. We were put in the "aliens" shoes. And it was a very cool concept to me. But again fans lose the point of the series. Tho its mostly a toys product at the end of the day and thats all people care bout. But when someone builds actually real storytelling. People dont appreciate it. And don't care about actually dealing with topics like war,governmental corruption,children of war,etc,etc. Maybe its a tough topic. I can understand that. But that really was the point. If you aint gonna talk bout and gloss over that fact,then what the fuck are you doing with this series? Why are you a fan then? Whats the point? Other than giant robots cool. You cant do anything with that and it becomes boring and a cash grab instead of a compelling story. It loses soul and people wont like it anymore. I guess i just miss the days where i could actually fucking talk bout something with having to deal with nauseous shipping grief,mary sue ocs with the personality of wet cardboard,and actually talking bout the deep shit that these giant alien robots must have been going through. Knowing their planetand only known home to be dead,stranded on an alien planet aka earth,with us humans,having to fight even tho energy be scarce. Like there is so much more crap and yet people only care bout who fucking who(when they probably ain't doing that anyways because,hello?! they are too busy trying to fucking survive and adapt). It baffles me. Not to mention for those that wanna explore self shipping and moving away from the toxic shippers got shat on. Im one of them. I also grew as a person realizing that why the fuck should people ship canon characters when you are perfectly fine to ship yourself. Anywho i dunno if i will truly ever get back into transformers. But i do love the series. I just don't love the fans and fangirls anymore. I really dont. Talking bout it to anyone but my sister is draining. Because at least with my sibling,she understands my pain as a fan. Because she is in the same boat as me with some stuff.

Anywho. Giant robots are fun. But its better when you can work with your own shit. And not have to worry about other people.
