((It's been a long time, but I have done some Child Lucina AU writing 8D))
Morgan wasn't sure how exactly to describe Severa, or even if she should. Severa would kick her arse if she heard Morgan talk bad about her.
"I guess... you could say she's brave, strong, beautiful, and she has a lot of... passion I would say. She has the same red hair as you actually"
"Really? She sounds amazing, I hope I could meet her someday"
Morgan smiled and nodded. "I hope so too"
Sumia butted in excitedly "Oh! Oh! Me next! Do I have a child as well? Boy or girl? What about the father?"
"Oh erm, Cynthia. Her name is Cyn-"
"Don't forget about me!" Lyssa caught wind of the discussion and seemed even more excited than Sumia. "I get to be a mother too right?!"
"I bet you do, probably get twins"
"Really?! That would be amazing"
The three women were nearly talking over each other with all the enthusiasm of school children, but they cut short when they noticed Morgan wiping away tears.
"Sorry" she sniffed "I just can't remember the last time I had a chance to talk amongst friends. I was just remembering what little good times we enjoyed."
Lyssa inched over to her niece and hugged her.
"I'm sorry, we didn't mean to upset you"
Morgan managed a smile "It's fine, I'm just glad I can do this again. Being here, just talking like this makes me happy"
Lyssa squeezed her cheek against Morgan's "Good! Then tell me about my kids!"
They all laughed and giggled, a shift away from their sombreness earlier.
"Alright ladies, don't get too excited, we've still got a war to fight. Should get some sleep " Sully stood over them eyes fixed on them like a mother hen.
"Aww" Lyssa gave the towering woman a pout.
"Oh, Aunt Sully, how about joining us instead?" Morgan grinned up to her cheekily, patting on the floor beside her.
The Paladin shrugged "No, I really don't care about what my future is. That future is too far away to worry about right now, so why bother talking about it, it'll just be a distraction. Besides, I might not even get married, you said so yourself a lot of this is different from your past, so who knows anymore"
Everyone seemed to return the same state of sombre as before
Sully gave another sigh and began walking away "We'll have plenty of time to talk after we win this war"
Sully stopped in her tracks.
"That's the name of your daughter. Kjelle."
Sully smiled to herself before continuing towards her tent.
Just a little further. That phrase repeated inside her head as Sully desperately dashed towards the clearing just ahead, blood still streaming from her wounds as they began dampening the bundle she clutched to her chest. Just a little further and she'll be clear from the forest. She could hear her pursuers getting closer as they crashed clumsily through the branches, their undead wails getting louder, thirsting for her blood. With these trees limiting her movement, there was no way Sully could beat so many Risen with her spear. And it was only a matter of time before she finally bleeds out from that stomach wound.
When she finally reached the clearing she felt the familiar sting of a blade glancing her arm from behind. In one expert motion she spun round and thrust the spear into the overreaching Risen's skull, splitting the cap from the eyes up. The remaining Risen begin to lurch around her, a crude attempt at encirclement.
Normally she would be able to fend off the four undead foes before her, but being so badly injured and carrying Kjelle in one arm lowered her chances of winning considerably. Stealing herself, she grips her spear under her arm and gives a quick thrust that struck the throat of the nearest Risen, killing it, before slamming the shaft into another Risen on the opposite side. As the second husk fell over, his two friends lurched forward swinging their weapons at her. She managed to dodge one swing and parry the other, skewering her foe in a follow up, before kicking the third Risen over. Although she quickly took care of the prone Risen with a quick heel stomp to the skull the previously staggered Risen had already made his swing at her. It was too late to dodge it. Her arm shot up to block it and she could feel the bite of the axe hitting bone as it sliced through her gauntlet. She managed to headbutt the Risen back, giving her enough room to impale her last opponent through the mouth. She fell to her knees, exhausted, and battered. Her blood streaming from her wounds, with no way to staunch the flow, Sully's final thoughts were of dying here and she would have failed the child in her arms.
"Gods! Are you alright?!"
Sully, now slipping in and out of consciousness, looked up and saw a lantern ahead of her, quickly getting closer to the tune of clanging metal. A soldier? Thank the Gods.
What? Who was mother? She managed to catch blurred glimpses of the armoured knight's shocked face, tears welling up in her eyes, as she mumbled
"It's really you... hold on I have a vulnary, please Gods, this can't be happening. I came back to stop this how is this-"
Sully didn't quite understand, but it seems the woman in front of her was Kjelle. Somehow she was all grown up. She survived to become a beautiful and strong young woman.
She looked down at the child in her arms and smiled one lat time
"Take... care of yourselves... I love you both..."
Kjelle's hands shook on hearing this, the potion's lip pressing against her mother's, too late to save her. The young knight wrapped her arms around her mother's head, crying as she begged the Gods to not take her away again. When she finally wiped the tears away she saw the child in her mother's arms. It was her. Fighting through waves of emotions she gently lifted her younger self up, but something was wrong, she was breathing but not responsive. She pressed her cheek against the child's forehead, and that was when she felt how high her temperature was. Kjelle began to tear up again, she had to get her past self back to the Feroxi village for treatment, which meant leaving her dead mother lying on the road.
She kissed her mother goodbye, promising to come back and lay her to rest.
