Good Omens fanfiction shout out 2024
As we wrap up 2024 I thought I’d post some brief thoughts about the fanfiction I’ve immersed myself in this year. I’ve discovered and read so much by such talented authors this year. Works that have changed me. Works that have touched me deeply. Works that have punched me in the chest. Works that got me a little hot and bothered (if you know what I mean). Works that have made me cry heartily in both joy and sadness. How strange and unreal to experience characters over and over again that can be represented in such different ways. All ways that ring true regardless of the AU they’re presented in. And although I look forward to their canon resolution I can’t wait to read more about all the different lives that they will have and share in fanfiction.
To every single author out there that puts such care and devotion and love into these characters, and into your writing, thank you for sharing your talents and your interpretations and your thoughts. You are all amazing!
And a very big shout out to the following authors who have profoundly changed my soul this year:
@cemeteryangel725 @phoen1xr0se @bellisima-writes @moonyinpisces @gaiaseyes451 @klikandtuna DiminishingReturns (I still don’t know your Tumblr handle), @thenerdalert @riathedreamer and @mrghostrat I could read your words over and over again and never want for anything more. You are treasures! Thank you!
Woke up pretty grateful for fandom today. Especially SAS RH and the Jack/Dónal fans, I feel like it's been such a wholesome experience thus far. All the people I've interacted with are so creative, but also so willing to help and collaborate. Ye embody the true sense of fandom and it's encouraging, like for example I've been rightly stuck on a fic lately but I got just the right nudge I needed last night and it's spurred me on again!
I've had such lovely interactions here with people from all parts of the world, and I love that I've found a little niche that's so wholesome tbh! No drama, no sense of competition, just creativity and collaboration.
So a little thanks to everyone involved in making the fandom what it is, with a few honourable mentions to the people who've helped me personally below! 🖤

I just want to say I love when the ToA fandom does anything. It's always like that spider man meme in the tags/comments. It feels like we all live in one big town sometimes and you're all neighbors that I borrow sugar from on regular occasion. Like, yeah I know them!
Me whenever the lovely people of this fandom do anything at all: Y'all just so good at everything. Stop that. Please. Leave some talent for the rest of us.
It’s funny how important safe places like Tumbler become and how they can be sanctuary’s in the times life really gets dark.
I recently lost my big brother and it only feels like the reality of that is sinking in now so it’s funny that I retreat to my fandoms and my happy place - Tumbler has helped me so much so far and I know it will continue to do so.
Wang Yibo has made me smile with his beauty and all the fanfic, fan art and gifs of The Untamed have had me smiling laughing and sobbing quietly so I just want to say a massive shout out to creators, artists and writers ☺️ you guys are pulling me through this dark time. Thank you thank you thank you 🩷
so… figured i’d make a pride post specifically for the ofmd community because. well i’ve been hyperfixating for nearly three years now.
i came out about five and a half years ago. at first i didn’t see it as a big thing because i was a hell of a lot younger and was also generally surrounded by people who supported me. i didn’t grow up surrounded by prejudice against queer people and im VERY lucky for that. but for a while, my identity wasn’t exactly something i valued.
the first time i’d ever seen queer people in any piece of media was watching shadowhunters. i had a friend recommend it to me sometime during quarantine. (i still love it, im just so scared to go back to watching it because every time i do i start fixating on it AGAIN.) even then, my queerness wasn’t something i loved or valued or celebrated.
then i found ofmd. and oh my god it was the first time i started seeing queerness as something beautiful and worth being cherished. i never hated who i was beforehand, but now it’s such a big part of who i am. i’m proud of being myself. im proud of being a big fat tranny and a big fat dyke. i don’t live in shame and i don’t think i ever will because the show itself and the community formed around it has shown time and time again that queerness is so beautiful
so big big thanks to literally everyone in this fandom and happy pride to all of us❤️🏳️🌈
I know in the grand scheme of things that this is by no means a lot, but it doesn't stop me from being FLOORED by the reception of my Rayllum Month stuff?!?! Like these PROPORTIONS are NUTS to me and I'm just over here in my bedroom sobbing my eyes out that my stuff (apparently) resonates with people the way I really want it to.
(^ the proportions in question)
Like, out of 895 people, and SO FAST (6 days, as of my posting this), 15 subscribed and I've got 79 kudos?! And 16 bookmarks?! AND 17 PEOPLE CARED ENOUGH TO COMMENT WHAT THE HECK?!?!?! I'm an emotional mess you guys and ik it's not a lot but it means EVERYTHING to me that people like my writing and I just CAN'T-
Sometimes I feel bad about devoting hours to fanart because it's not "original work."
But honestly, fandom has helped me make more progress in the past year than my original works. Fandom gives me a space to create stuff that I enjoy with other people who *also* enjoy it, and in turn lets me push boundaries and work through mental roadblocks that I might otherwise have ignored
None of this is to sat that original art isn't worthwhile. I love my stories to death and one day hope to share them. But fanart is also valid, and I've been feeling a lot of appreciation for it recently <3
