People defending usage of AI in fkn FANfiction is making me lose my marbles. This is one of those instances where AI definitely CANNOT be "used as a tool". Please for the love of god post your work, even if you're unsure of how good it is, even if people get rude or hate it... You LEARN by making mistakes. You HAVE to be terrible first to get good at something. YOU WILL NEVER LEARN SHIT IF YOU DON'T EXPERIENCE YOUR OWN FAILURES. If I showed y'all snippets of some crap I used to write back in the day you'd think I was illiterate. Using AI is just a lazy and quick "way out". AO3 existed way before AI and people knew how to use it then. Please have more courage to put yourself out there, possible mistakes included!

Somehow still a controversial take but:

If you don’t like a show/movie etc, instead of complaining online about everything wrong with it and how much you dislike it, just don’t watch it or interact with the fandom. Don’t engage with media you don’t enjoy.

You clearly don’t want to be here, why make yourself miserable taking about it and interacting with it. Just go find something you do like instead.

@wheremermaidsdwell I think it might be that we have more access to creators then ever before so “word of god” comes up way more often. People actually can ask and get answers to things that would have just stayed fan theories or headcanons years ago.

I tend to stick to being more canon compliant too or at least having my headcanon have some basis in canon even if it’s tiny. That’s a personal preference though. I have no problem with people who throw canon fully to the wind and go full crackships or whatever.

Hell, sometimes I’ll do that too because like you said it’s just fun.

The same goes for people who strictly only enjoy explicitly canon stuff and dislike most fanon. As long as you’re not a jerk who cares? Do your own thing

But yeah I assume part of it has to do with the fact people can get validation for their headcanons and stuff from creators directly and now it’s often used as a gotcha against other fans.

Sometimes the best thing creators can say imo is “it’s up to you. Interpret how you want” or “this is how I meant it but you can do whatever you want with it” …or just leaving it completely ambiguous sometimes.

It is but satisfying to have a headcanon or ship validated but your enjoyment shouldn’t be dependent on it. It doesn’t mean you can’t like something if it’s not canon. You don’t have to like something just because it’s canon either, etc.

Just came across an interview of 🖕🏻NG🖕🏻 where he said a lot of people asked for a kiss to be in s2 and he said "I can give you what you want but you won't want it."

See this is the kind of stuff that stresses me out. I really hope that he doesn't do something like this again. Like, taking it out on all of us who actually know how to keep Fandom for the fans and not cross his boundaries that he has repeated over and over.

Don't sent him stuff. Not theories, not confirmation/denial questions, not fics or art, not wants and demands.

That stuff is for US to talk about with each other. It's nice that he is here on the platform and interacts with his fans but I feel a lot of them take advantage of him being on a platform like this. Fandom is not for the creators it's for the FANS that's why it's called FANdom.

If we want to see another kiss, more romance, physical affection, or a sex scene that is for us to talk about. That's not for us to demand of him in his asks. I know some of you are younger and want to be silly about it, but please try to be grown up and respect the authors boundaries. It's just common decency.

Seeing all the Goncharov asks Neil Gaiman has gotten and just... y'all. Please stop. I know you're having fun and that's great, but please remember to respect creators/celebrities and don't drag uninvolved folks into your in-joke. Keep a little distance between fandom and creators, especially with a fandom for a thing that's not even real. Don't ask creators to weigh in on shipping or headcanons, and if you're going to ask them questions, keep it at least related to their work.

As someome hyperfixated on fuckwit real people for many years ive learned to make my own enjoyment. find my own meaning, take what they give, twist it and make it my own.

i can crit sophist and hold my sophist plushie while drawing tranfem nick because i do not need to enjoy them to get enjoyment outta them.

i am fans of them. But i do not need to be to enjoy thier personas and contributions to the internet.

Just like how i hate ranboo and always got oriboo on the mind.

i have my aus, i have fan aus i have mods i have tranfem headcannons i have poly crashers and i will always have those things no matter what they do. im taking enjoyment from thier claws and making it my own.

Please do not idolize youtubers. Instead take what u want from them. u want comfort cc’s? I want aus? U want ships? Take it. this is a transactional relationship, we give them views they give us shit to do. Never forget. They are not more special then you.

Jonny’s a grown arse man and literally nothing the TMA fandom can do will shock him I promise you, there is nothing y’all have thought of that someone hasn’t bloody dm’d him at some point. 

The Do Not Archive tag is awesome though. Please do use it. It helps to know that if a creator/actor in the fandom actually reads it any trauma they suffer is directly their fault. 

I personally am of the opinion that if any creator goes into fandom spaces they have to be prepared for what they see - there’s a reason why you’re not SUPPOSED to. Remember, in the end, fandoms are for US not for the people who made or acted in the thing.
