It was my birthday last week, so I treated myself by ordering Zhuzhi-lang & Lan Qiren plush dolls... anyone know of any good Qi Rong plush dolls for sale? I would've loved to buy the one from LittleSofts, but alas that collection has been out of stock for a while now and won't be coming back. (Of course... if anyone knows a secondhand seller listing where I could get my hands on it... that's another story... 👀)
My Marvel Trumps Hate fill for @buckybarnesdeservestobehappy / @hutchhitched has reached her, so I can finally share! (The last picture includes her extra goodies and would have been a spoiler, haha.)
For one of my auctions this year, I offered a premade Merman Bucky plush, roughly 21in/53cm long, with a lace fin and a tail that moves. His tail and arm coloring are based on Bucky's uniform in Avengers: Infinity war, and his coloring based on both Jewish!Bucky and Sebastian Stan's eyes. The pattern is my own modification of a legged doll pattern I bought from ThimbleAnThistle on Etsy; while I used their base pattern to shape the torso and arms' silhouette, I shaped it to be more masculine and added ears, and the tail is fully my own design. His hair is faux fur, made as a wig over his plush head but sewn on for durability, and his face is embroidered with embroidery floss and a darning needle. For the pattern of the plates on his metal arm, I looked at a picture of the more distinctive parts of his upper arm in IW and freehanded the rest to look (hopefully) like a reasonable style match. Also, I tried to web his hands for swimming, but I'm not sure how well that came across, haha.
About halfway through auction week I got a massive itch to sew again, so I started an Alpine catfish to go with MerBucky (although my embroidery thread went AWOL so I had to finish her after the auction was over). I used a modification of Neon-Juma's koi pattern from DeviantArt (as found on Craftsourse.fandom.com), where I lengthened the back piece, used only it and the belly, and reshaped the front to be a bit more catfish-like. The fins and tail were made with a white lace of a similar type to MerBucky's tail fin and were freehand sized and placed based a Google Image search for catfish and staring at a few pictures for... longer than I want to admit.
The books are a lil' thank you bonus, because BBD2BH was my only bidder and a wonderful supporter, and she loves history. I found some local books she likely hasn't read before and sent them along.
Many thanks to the wonderful mods at @marveltrumpshate for giving us another amazing auction year, and a HUGE thank you to every bidder and donator who helped us get such an incredible final total!
Another weekend, another project done. Will I complete a project every weekend? As much as I'd like to my hands already say no SO...
We have Harvey! I made him to be a cosplay prop for a future Edna cosplay but I just really, really wanted one and the official plush is hard to get.
He is made out of fleece and felt primarily, because I don't find terry cloth particularly cuddly, myself. The ears are posable and the pupils are embroidered circles and I am so, so proud of him, particularly his head.
This will not be the only Edna and Harvey plushie I make. Stay tuned teehee.
