I shared this thought elsewhere too but,

being a multifandom creator is such a weird thing because in making yourself happy you end up making one group of people happy, then no groups, then one group again, then just you and like two other people, then you and one very INTENSE group while everyone watches confused, then only you and then—

but I think that, while this observation is funny, it ultimately shouldn’t matter. the “professionalisation” of fandom has made the whole thing feel so strict, in places. like people taking it waaay too seriously and cult-y. just draw the blorbos you wanna draw and write the shit you wanna write. who cares. chase your joy innit. if you followed me for one thing and then unfollow me later cause I wasn’t posting about it as much, then like, cool, I think that’s cool. I don’t understand why people would get upset about that, honestly. we’re all stewing in the same soup pot at all times, anyway

Preventing Vision from Phasing

I had a thought last night, and I can’t get it out of my head. If I’m remembering correctly, Vision has a line in Infinity War during the fight in Edinburgh where he says he can’t phase after being stabbed. Wanda asks if that’s possible and he replies that it’s not supposed to be. However, in Civil War Hawkeye’s electric arrows did stop him from phasing, albeit not for very long.

The combination of those two scenes led me to wonder whether Hawkeye’s arrows were designed specifically for Vision or just happened to work on him temporarily. If they were designed, who designed them? I would presume the remnants of SHIELD that we see at the end of Age of Ultron, or possibly Tony. If they were not designed, what led Hawkeye to think that the arrows would work to hold him?

This brought me to a further thought of whether Vision submitted himself to all sorts of tests as to what kinds of weapons/containment options could be used against him. I’m sure that MCU Vision would willingly participate in such tests, but it makes me sad to think of that. It would certainly add new poignancy to his talk about the value of oversight at the beginning of Civil War.

I have also wondered what led Hawkeye to be so certain that Wanda could overpower Vision. If there were such tests, maybe someone had the idea to test Wanda’s powers on Vision. I had thought that the “You could never hurt me” line was just a way for Vision to reassure Wanda or maybe to refer back to her pushing him through the floor; however, it would be interesting if it really were impossible for her to hurt him.

Still sad about the fact that Crowley is sleeping in his car and obviously needing purpose, but by S2E3 "Jim" has his own bedroom, a job (or at least busy work), and even a stupid coffee mug in the bookshop.

TBH, I'd want to shove him out a second-story window, too.

(I have been kindly informed that it's "first" floor in non-America world, but the sentiment stands. Just a little further off the ground.)

But can we talk for a minute about what legitimately good writing the last bit of S2E6 really is, assuming we take it at face value?

Because it would have been easier, made complete continuity sense, and probably gotten just as much emotional fan engagement, to pull out the Book of Life/Extreme Sanctions plot device and end with that. Most series do end seasons with that kind of dramatic cliffhanger.

How painful would the last few minutes of the episode have been, had one of them just vanished without warning, Thanos-snap-style?

But we didn't go that route.

It's relatively easy for us as writers to make our readers feel things with Big Dramatic Plot Devices, as they lend themselves to emotional conflict by nature. It's 100x harder to make the audience feel something with completely realistic situations, relationship or otherwise.

As someone who relates probably equally to both religious-trauma!Aziraphale and my-emotional-walls-are-higher-than-those-around-Eden!Crowley, I have big respect for the realistic.

So I got reminded that National Treasure exists this week, so now I'm deep-diving fic and I am so sad that there are so few polyship fics out there (that there's so few fics in general for it, tbh)

Holy crap, I just realized something.

Tyler defenders = the same types who would believe that James Potter was a reformed bully, when in reality, sometimes shitty, privileged people like James get breaks and age like the rest of us without changing their core personality (kind of like the author of that series herself 😑). People reading Potter couldn't fathom that a shitty 'kid' could father the hero of their story...but that's exactly what Harry struggled to understand in Book 5. James Potter did fight for the side of good and lost his life over it, but that never made him a great person (come on man, how many wife beaters and white nationalists did we have fighting our wars in the past). He's just a shit person who manipulated his way into the relationship that he had (with his bully and bully-enabling friends making excuses for it 20 years later)...

....just like how Tyler 'tried to convince' Wednesday that he was reformed, only for her to learn he was manipulating her the whole time and then tried to kill her in the end even though THAT WASN'T EVEN WITHIN HIS PURVIEW ("Laurel said you were dead..." which meant that she didn't have any commands for Tyler to kill Wednesday, as Laurel believed her business with Wednesday was complete. No "Oh by the way Tyler, if Wednesday somehow comes back to life, KILL HER FOR ME! 🥰" Nope, that ending was all Tyler.)

Xavier does have a strange Snape-like quality towards him. 👀 Except that he hasn't been completely embittered towards everyone and everything...yet.

All of it is just fucking Potter all over again...just on a different timeline and string of the multiverse.

I wonder why some tv shows get more fanfic than others? I’ve just finished watching Upstairs Downstairs (the 2011 one) and there’s only about 30 fics on ao3, despite there being SO much potential for fanfic there. The Durrells fandom is more into gifs and pictures than fic. Then you’ve got Berena which is, like, a subsection of a tv show with over 2000 fics on ao3. I wonder what the formula is.
