STOP BELIEVING FANDOM TROLLS

Please stop giving accounts like this attention. They’re always trolls and many times predators behind them who use fandom to prey on young girls.

In the last few years we’ve had dozens of fake accounts like this pop up and gain followers purely based on their trolling content that misleads unsuspecting, many times newer, fans. Not ONE time have any of these accounts turned out to be true.

They all use the same formula: they try to capture your attention by posting “clues” for a mystery you have to solve. These clues never amount to anything and no mystery ever gets any conclusion. It’s all random numbers that make no sense or copycat “puzzles” from old marketing campaigns that also never get solved or result in anything.

CBO has been doing this for years and trolling new fans.

If this was an actual marketing campaign for Louis or Harry they would’ve pivoted their strategy ages ago, bc clearly nothing is getting solved and their campaign isn’t garnering any real traction. A good example of a real marketing campaign pivoting their strategy was when LTHQ were posting photos of Louis on his actual YouTube channel with letters for us to solve the title of FITF songs. When fans didn’t solve one of the photo clues, they immediately went ahead and showed us the title, essentially showing us “how to” play the game.

All of the real marketing campaigns for Harry and Louis are always linked to their actual real social media accounts and are lead by their record labels and marketing teams.

All of these fake accounts pretending to be marketing or pretending to be Harry or Louis have always lead fans on wild goose chases for nothing and are never linked to any of their real accounts or record labels.

Stop believing troll accounts. They’re at best just trolling you and at worst using fandom to take advantage of young girls who think they’re “in” with Harry or Louis. It’s never them. Ever.

Also of note: all real marketing campaigns are led by a team, not Harry or Louis personally. You’re never talking to them directly.

Stop believing fandom trolls and giving them attention

The severe lack of critical thinking skills some people have in this fandom astounds me. Seriously, why do they even pay attention to this bunch of bored narcissists playing the victim card with a clear superiority complex? And if you try to point it out to them, we are the bitter arses ruining the fun for everyone. The audacity of this group who insists to insinuate that they are somehow connected to Louis' entourage is so annoying, frustrating and tiring.  

But the thing that irritates me the most, besides the fact that they are larries (as if people didn't hate us enough already and call us with all the derogatory terms that infer some level of mental illness) is the amount of fans - even quite adults - who will believe (or pretend to believe) anything regardless of how unreliable and obviously false it is, as long as it fits their narrative and fantasies. And I’m genuinely concerned to see how many people are ok with this behaviour. It’s insane to me.  

I will never tire of repeating that, as much as they try to say that their intentions were innocent, the fact that they never explicitly stated it but only said it once they were exposed, is a clear sign that their intentions were malicious. They intentionally deceived people. Their entertainment comes from making fun of other fans and misleading them. You can still make a fun and nice distraction without fooling people and engage with them with full transparency. But they are so intoxicated by their arrogance, that they fail to see how they have contributed to making this fandom a less safe space for everyone.  It brings nothing but stress and anxiety at the very last, and people certainly will think more than twice before approaching and interacting. This is the kind of shit that kills a fandom.  

Behind these trolls accounts, even when they say “but it’s just for fun, it’s not that deep”, the damage is done the minute they create them and don’t make it clear what’s what. Because when you see more and more fans genuinely believing and interacting hoping that Louis is behind it, or that is someone with “insider info”, or even just someone from his team to do promo and marketing, they have made a conscious choice to continue undaunted to keep quiet and prolong this charade. The fun they talk about is one-sided, the purpose is for their own amusement, only to entertain themselves, and sadly it’s done on the backs of others by taking advantage of their emotions. The damage they’ve done is no less dangerous than physical damage. And I am sorry if I appear intransigent, but some things are not to be trifled with.   

We have seen it all in this fandom, and there also have been really dangerous accounts in the past. The fandom is mostly made up of women, many are very young, teens or even underage who are easily persuaded by emotion without reasonable evidence. To always pass these behaviours off as goliardia remains morally unacceptable to me. It's not ok at all. These people wanted to do harm and even after they've been exposed and their evidences debunked (not doxxed as they falsely claim, literally no one from that account has been doxxed and that's another attempt of them playing the victim card and pushing their agenda), are back at it with their intentional deception. They're still misleading fans, and it’s so scary how easily people believe random accounts. They are not the first and most likely will not be the last either, but what is even sadder is that not only they hurt us fans, but also hurt Louis, and Harry. They see them only as fictional characters to be used for their own amusement, rather than as human beings like us. It’s unacceptable and there is no justification, and I’m sorry but if someone tries to say that all of this is normal or don’t see how much problematic is, then they too are part of the problem.

It’s fake. I think it’s the same person who was doing the account with the doors. Whoever it is, it’s not connected to Harry’s team. From what I heard, it’s an account that has been around for a while. They just change the name and pretend to be someone new. I saw a number of people very confused because they were already following the account when it appeared.

FYI, I just finally updated Book of Merthur so only registered users can comment, so sorry if you like to comment but are lazy and don't like logging in, or don't have an account. I'm pretty sure I've got a fandom troll; I blocked a user who has become a bit notorious for leaving certain comments on Merthur fics, then I had several guest comments which were obviously from the same person, which I deleted without ever responding to them. They continued to leave comments despite the fact that they weren't getting any engagement from me, and I even reported them to ao3 hoping they could block by IP address or something, but that was months ago and I never heard back. I'm pretty positive the same person just left another guest comment on the latest update, which I deleted again, and unfortunately I just can't see any way to keep them out aside from turning off guest comments, at least for a bit. I might change this to comment moderation since it's really just the one person I'm having an issue with and this way I could just delete the comment and not let it go live, but I think most of my comments and regular readers are from registered accounts anyway, so for now I'm just going to leave guest comments off on that fic and hope I've not cock blocked anyone who is not annoying.

It's just that one fic for now; I haven't had issues on the others.

Because all I did was remove a like from a post when I reread and realized I didn't align with it after all. That is on me (it's called realization and learning, nonny). The rest is in your head.

And you folks twisted that into some kind of "defending" narrative, and all it boils down to - and where it started from that time round - was me posting that rant post - and you getting pissed about it (and starting fights in the replies)

Block and move on, nonny. This has been going on for two years now, and yes I do have receipts on that. Constant harassment, name calling, threatening, bad-mouthing on other blogs et cetera et cetera.
