I can't believe the kids are forgetting this but

A crossover is when the cast of two canons get mixed together, either because Steve Harrington suddenly lives in a world where Tony Stark is avenging around or because there's been dimension hopping involved

A fusion is for when you take one cast of characters and a special attribute of the universe in a different canon (eg. Stranger Things but with daemons)

Now go forth and label your stories accurately, ya little punks ;)

Did fandom as a whole ever find a replacement for the term jossed? It typically referred to when new canon developments render something in a fic no longer consistent with canon. It happens a lot in fandoms for ongoing canons.

Fandom at large has moved away from the need for Joss Whedon, so I’m hoping it’s also moved past the use of jossed as a term. Fanlore has nothing at the moment. Is there a new phrase for that?

Not that it matters, but I'm pretty sure lemon and pr0n were used at roughly the same time by different subcultures, in case you need it for a paper or something! 'Lemon' came from some popular anime porn thing from when we were babies and found its way through the pervs down to the anime smutfic writers. So that's a thing. (I learned the word 'lemon' first because my first fanfics were Sailor Moon haha my sad youth I was horrified)

Yeah, I guess the lemon thing was going on pretty much exclusively in anime circles for years before it finally started trickling over into the other fandoms? When I first saw it was actually in Vampire Diaries fanfic descriptions, and the author was definitely also an anime fan.

I still haven't really seen it that much amongst authors who aren't/haven't at some point been writing in anime fandoms, though. So idk if it's really actually migrated fully out of the anime community yet even.
