I am honestly scared about the fact that in the worst case this might end up not being the opening of a door for more talented female players but the lock that closes it. I am willing to hope that the bigger part of this community will be better than that, especially considering there are more l talented female players hired for contenders. But at the same time i pray to see as little of the ugly side of toxic masculinity in Esports as possible.
Yeah. I hope it’s only a little portion of fans who are like that, because it’s inevitable that there are going to be some who are super sexist, and that if it does get out of hand then Blizzard will do something about it, like maybe put out a statement or something (which I also hope they do with this issue of TriHard being spammed and death threats being sent to Malik). I’m holding out on most fans to be mature, though, and focus more on Geguri’s gameplay than her gender, and same for the women in Contenders.
