I don't really have anything else to post so here's a doodle of a monster that only shows its eye.
Fantasy species stuff. Idk when I don't feel like drawing I just post my writing instead.
Small little trigger warning since they are described to look like corpses and are pretty brutal.
The Corpse-Beasts
Created by a vengeful doomweaver after escaping their cell, running away from their upcoming execution. After watching multiple other doomweavers being subjected to cruel executions, they created these beasts infused with parts of their magic and released them into the wild, specifically around government officials' estates and the imperial palace, before they took their own life.
The species are described to be highly-intelligent and lacking empathy. And are actively hunted by The Enchanters Association and castaway factions.
Itaimaya — (The Corpse-Mirage Deer)
A nocturnal beast resembling the corpse of a deer with black fur. They're born with a hard shell that covers their skull like head. They store magical mist in their throats that cause their victims to hallucinate their greatest fears or replay the most painful events of their life. They closely resemble the modern interpretation of the fantasy creature called "wendigo."
Due to their lack of physical strength, they rely on their mist to lower the guard of their victims before biting off or stabbing fatal areas with their antlers.
Hexcry (The Corpse-Mimicry Raven)
A large raven-like beasts with human eyes and teeth. Constantly grinning ear to ear, rarely ever found making any other expression or even blinking. They're regarded to be the most dangerous Corpse-Beast because of their high-intelligence and ability to observe and learn, to the point they have learned mimicry magic from observing archsages.
They lure their victims in by mimicking the voice of an individual calling for help before biting their heads off directly. They're known for their surprisingly high killcount despite not existing for that long, and being incredibly territorial and possessive. They are the only Corpse-Beast that actively hunts humans instead of other prey animals. They are usually found alone and are rarely in groups of Hexcry.
A famous story speaks about a Hexcry who saved a young doomweaver child from execution, and flew far away with the disturbed child.
Nobody knows where the child currently is, or if they are alive at all. However scholars say it's likely the child is dead due to Hexcry being known for violence.
