Weekend 3: Fantasy World You’d Live In
I would happily go live in Middle-earth. Particularly I would like to live in the Shire, in a nice, cozy hobbit-hole.

Fantasy November Weekend Challenges
Weekend 3: Fantasy World You’d Live In
I would happily go live in Middle-earth. Particularly I would like to live in the Shire, in a nice, cozy hobbit-hole.
Hey bookish bees! 😊 I know that November is usually reserved for NaNoWriMo, but I thought I’d start a challenge for us non-writers to do while cheering for our writer friends 😊 This is how Fantasy November came to be!
The goal is simple: spend the entire month of November reading only fantasy books 💖 November has always been so whimsical and magical to me, so I thought it would be the perfect month to do this. Obviously, you can alter this to suit your schedule: read one one fantasy book, or combine with other genres, but ideally it would be just fantasy for the entire month 😊
The challenge will run from November 1st to November 30th. Use the tag #fantasynovember for your posts, so we can find each other 💖
I’ve also prepared two kinds of challenges. The first one is a challenge reserved for weekends (I thought it wouldn’t put too much pressure on the participants if it was reserved for weekends), that can be done as a photo challenge or as a discussion post:
The second one is an event-wide challenge, that is a bit more diverse in terms of types of posts:
As always, I welcome you to post your TBR and goals at the beginning and your final tally at the end of the challenge 😊 I really really hope to see people participating in this, I really think it would be a ton of fun 💖
It’d be really cool if you spread this around, so that as many people as possible get to see it 😊
Love, Mary 💖

Weekend Challenge 3: Fantasy World You'd Live In
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
As cliché as it is, this will always be my answer. I have wanted to live in the Wizarding World since I was a little girl and that hasn't changed after all these years. Hogwarts is my home.
Now comes the hard part, where I have to figure out if i finish reading all the spooky October books that I checked out from the library, or start reading fantasy books on my TBR for Fantasy November!
@books-and-cookies #FantasyNovember: Books Read
The Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
This book took a while to grow on me. The first 100 pages, where Xifeng is basically travelling with her utterly unappealing love interest Wei, are really slow and dull. But once she got to the Emperor’s court and the scheming and intrigue really started to pick up, it was a gripping read. I loved the hints towards the wider series as well - it’s clearly going to enter into a Snow White narrative in the next book and I want to see how Dao twists the story.
Also, shout out to the chapter where Xifeng rips out someone’s heart and eats it, which I read on a bus next to a very concerned stranger!!!
Overall Rating: 4/5
Challenge #1: Post a quote from your favourite fantasy book

Don't really feel like reading another yet, so I've decided to read one of my favorite fantasy manga instead!
