Les Plaqués du Rugby - Farid Sid and Raphaël Poulain, two very different example. Aired in Stade 2, channel France 2 in July 2013.
Farid Sid doesn't find another club when the USAP doesn't renew his contract after winning the Brennus in 2009. He's now taking classes of physiotherapy and has to get his diploma under two years : that's how long he'll have the unemployment benefit.
I've already talked about Raphaël Poulain : young player for the Stade Français at the beginning of the 2000's, but his body keeps breaking. He's too often injured and the Stade Français end the contract at some point. As Farid, he has two years. But his life has only been about rugby, and all the money offered by the SF along with nice cars, a nice flat and a really really nice pay check every month. He's been in the Dieux du Stade calendar, when it started. When he was with the SF, they played six finales. He only played one because his body was too broken : ankles, calf, arm, etc. He's almost on the street now, tries to make a living as an actor, does conferences for young rugby players. But he's back thanks to philosophy. He learned how to grow up without rugby. He almost killed his girlfriend, he almost killed himself. But now he is okay with who he is.
