Autolatry - The worship of one’s self.

“You escaped the red light district why do you still spend all this time painting your face?” Sanemi huffed from his place against the doorframe.

Other people would probably have taken offense to her lover’s gruff tone but Ohta knew he meant no harm. He was just shit at talking to people. So she pondered his question, rolling around the words around in her head. 

Sure, the act of putting on make-up used to be part of her job. It used to be something she had to do so she could sell herself to men looking for a good time. Every stroke of eyeliner was a painstaking reminder that her body was nothing more than a tool to be used to make money. 

But now every stroke of lipstick, every drop of foundation, every speckle of blush is for herself. Not for a man. It's for her. 

The time she spends making herself up is now an intimate worship of herself. A way to appreciate the beauty she already has and accentuate it. A time to bond with her own sense of self-worth and learn to love the body the gods gave her. Not because it’s the object of men’s gaze, but because it gives her strength. Because it’s the body that found the vigor to leave the life that everyone said she was destined for and find something she truly loved. 

She looked over her shoulder at that very thing she loved so much. He was still leaning against the doorframe, watching her put her make-up on like he always did. He’d never admit it but she could tell he liked to watch her. It seemed to calm him for some reason. By the look on his face he was still waiting for an answer to his question. She’d almost forgotten he’d asked one. 

She chuckled as she set her face with some powder, “Because I do whatever I want. That’s why.” 

Sanemi smirked, “Of course. Stupid of me to ask.”

oh boy,, okay okay, here we go in order of when the crushes happen because that makes sense right;

jesper - attended university in ketterdam with jos,, the moment they met he thought she was the coolest person in the worlds, and he will always be a little in love with her. they get along like a house on fire and jos keeps jesper balanced (and alive),, they're just friends though and both very happy with that

kaz - a crush is kind of a stupid word in mr. brekker's opinion but what else would you like to call it, huh? jos saved his life exactly once and he thought about how good she looked doing it for a week straight. they're not the right people to be in love with each other and they both know it, and even their friendship is strained at best but,, every now and again kaz still thinks about that night she saved him

abel - meets jos when they attempt to kidnap alina and goes 'can you take me too?' to which jos is so insanely surprised and delighted that they can't help but flirt with abel a bit, and his soft heart can't cope and falls for them immediately lol

mal - doesn't like jos. not in a way that he's willing to admit. sure he loses his mind when he loses jos or thinks they got hurt but that's not a crush. nah. he certainly doesn't like her when she saves his life at little palace or when she sits next to him the night after that and they share a silent moment of complete understanding

zoya - is a wlw who loves badass women and you can't argue with me on this, watches jos kick the darkling's ass and is just very 👀 about it. they don't really get together but zoya would be so down

Bunny felt weirdly embarrassed as she lead the pack into her room. 

She looked around, seeing all of her stuff through their eyes. Her bookshelf full of dvds, her tons of crystals, her box of Captain Crunch sitting on her dresser. This must've been what people meant when they talked about "the mortifying ideal of being known."

"Where's your witchy stuff?" Malia asked.

Bunny walked the short distance to her closet and opened it, revealing even more crystals, her shrine of Stevie Nicks and her stack of spell books.

"Wow," Kira said, trying to cover her surprise with a smile. "That's a lot of stuff."

Bunny nodded, fighting the urge to wrap her arms around herself. "Yeah, well, a girl needs something to kill all the time, so..."

Scott smiled at her and walked closer to the closet. "Will any of these books help us figure out where Boyd and Erica came from?"

"Why? You trying to send us back?" Boyd asked.

fandombend jasper + voltron!!

Jasper got kind of creative??? maybe it's because I already like his backstory so much but:

He'd be from some humanoid alien race colonized by the empire. Still stuck there for awhile hating the way he had to grow up.

Would end up becoming a medical aide for the resistance after Voltron passes through fighting the good fight.

Over there I feel like he'd inevitably find and hit it off with like Rolo and Nyma and their crowd, find a friend group that way.

He'd come to Earth with a lot of the rest of the resistance when they make contact and I'm sure he'd join the med team on the Atlas.

(And Keith is right there being an emo swordsman with a tragic backstory who doesn't like to be emotionally vulnerable in front of others and he'd absolutely flirt with and fall for through bickering with him xoxo)
