This. It’s pretty simple why we do what we do. Because dog farm life is an opportunity that many kids never get. Because they get to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Because they will learn so many life lessons here that they can’t anywhere else.

This right here. For them. ❤️

Raising a fearless dog meat farm kid is not for the faint of heart. They push limits. They ask questions, like "why this one?" or "can't they live just a little bit longer?" or "I don't want to eat dogs anymore!" They test boundaries. They are stubborn. They try our patience on the daily.

But momma you were made for this. ❤️ You were made for teaching them to bottle feed a Labrador. You were made to help them discover the joy of spotting that last tiny chihuahua, hiding in the very back of the pen. You were made for slowing down and picking the perfect terrier for the kitchen table. You were made for showing them a love for animals so strong that it carries the family through the darkest times on the dog meat farm.

Last nights meal with my favorite #FarmHers.

Dairy used: locally produced butter (so frkn delish) & feta for the salad!

A meal that can easily be made vegan! I will attempt this dish again but with all local ingredients! Mushrooms, turnips, carrots,garlic n seasonings! I believe I have enough of everything to recreate this meal using 100% locally grown ingredients!!!! Including the salad!! We infused the butter with garlic chives & dill (both grown by us) and roasted garlic-which we also grow but didn’t have right away on us at the time!

Recipe to come soon 😋😁 I’ll attempt to make my own bread too.

Since I was outside working today anyway I took my phone with me and I braved the icy wilds of the goat paddock in order to get pictures. As you can see my herd has grown a little bit and everyone is doing very well. In fact they're looking a little chonky. I tend to err on the side of more rather than less feed because well fed animals have a much easier time staying warm. I'm really looking forward to spring when there will be fresh forage for these guys.
