Black farmer know the historical routine— Help is not coming to help them.
I’ve also read that USAID bought billions of dollars of goods from American farmers.
People don’t realize how much damage he did to the American farming industry last time because he covered it with huge bailouts that the taxpayers paid for. I remember reading about how our hog farmers had to just slaughter their hogs because they were getting too big and China wasn’t buying.
And then he just wasted the summer water reserves for our farmers here, the dude is an absolute menace to one of the great American industries. But it’s easy to destroy the livelihoods of the little people when you’re a ruling class sociopath who doesn’t have to worry about paying his bills. It’s a different lifestyle than most Americans are living, that’s for sure.
“Trump Has Sucker-Punched Farmers. America Will Suffer.”
— Robert Leonard, NYTimes
There is nothing more infuriating than seeing people posting shit about how theres no point in making a lifestyle change to minimize their ecological footprint because major corporations are the main problem.
These corporations are literally run by psychopaths so if you honestly think that people incapable of feeling guilt are gonna change youre in denial and are just passing the responsibility because you think it's too hard or you personally are a psychopath incapable of feeling any remorse towards the way you personally are FUCKING UP THE PLANET.
Every single person makes a difference! Stop making excuses! Put in an effort! Research! Make a change!
How dyou feel about vegetarians? Its super easy to get access to vegi foods that arent just fruit or veg and personally i get mad when people 'just need bacon'. The way most animals are treated is awful, and farming causes deforestation and all sorts of global problems. Yet because something tastes good (despite healthier and pretty good options of non meat food) everyone suffers Input?
I don’t have a problem with vegetarians or vegetarianism. But I do have a problem with a lot of the assertions you make in this ask, anon. People eat meat for many reasons other than it “tastes good” (health, cultural, socio-economic status, etc.). People do not always have healthier non-meat options (google “food deserts” and “access to healthy food”). Question why you are blaming a SYSTEMIC problem like deforestation and animal abuse on INDIVIDUAL ACTION as opposed to blaming capitalism, the farming industry, etc. The vast majority of individual citizens have little to no control over systemic problems (like, one person going vegan/vegetarian is not going to stop deforestation). There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Most people are just trying to survive. Instead of blaming them for that, perhaps look at dismantling and critiquing the systems that make their survival so difficult in the first place.
Just a few short weeks ago, the Trump administration predicted an agreement was in the offing with China that would end the ruinous trade war between the two countries. But the deal fell through and the president decided to slap 10% in additional tariffs on Chinese goods imported into the U.S. Ch...
Xi Jinping hits “trade wars are easy to win” Trump where it hurts — right in the bread basket.
Farmers — Agriculture Industry, you read that correctly — China stopped buying ALL of YOUR products.
Wall Street Journal:
Feeding China’s growing appetite has meant big business for the U.S. farm economy. China was one of the biggest export destinations for U.S. agricultural commodities from 2009 to 2017 alongside Canada and Mexico, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
In 2017, Chinese buyers imported $19.5 billion in farm goods.
That dropped to $9.1 billion last year as China’s tariffs on U.S. soybeans, pork, milk and other products
...
Over the first six months of this year, China’s agricultural imports from the U.S. were down 20% from the same period last year.
Given the scale of China’s agricultural imports, it would be hard for U.S. farmers to make up for those sales even with much higher exports to other nations, economists say.
And TAXPAYERS are paying for everything — farmer bailout subsidies — and the increase in prices from Trump tariffs.
Last year, the administration subsidized U.S. farmers to the tune of more than $10 billion. This year, payouts to farmers will top $14 billion.
“But farmers say it's not enough.” Republicans send #ThoughtsAndPrayers
Farmers and those whose jobs depend on them, it’s not too late...
Republicans could have stopped Trump but they didn’t. They’ve proven they don’t care about you. So REFUSE to vote for Trump or Republicans in 2020.
It was Obama who saved the Auto Industry — a Democrat can save the farming industry. So vote for Democrats.
So at what point can we stop pretending that hating the meat industry is anti indigenous.
Farmers Rally Across the UK in Historic Protest Against Labour's Tax Policies
Today, the fields and roads of Britain witnessed an unprecedented scene as farmers from various regions converged in a coordinated protest, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing debate over agricultural policies. This movement, spearheaded by the Farmers Union, isn’t just about financial burdens; it’s a statement on the survival of rural communities and the heritage of farming in the UK. The…
